I sent you out to play last night
The alarms went off at three
Funny how I'm not laughing now
Loneliness a guarantee
I sent you out to play last night
The alarms went off at three
Funny how I'm not laughing now
He's not coming home to me
I sent you out to play last night
The alarms went off at three
Funny how I'm not laughing now
He's not coming home to me
Try to get out of the lease
And to move out of love
If only there was no consequence
I'd watch it all turn to dust
Hey can I go with you, my beauty number 2?
Hey can I go with you, when the rendezvous' over?
It's over
Hey can I go with you, my beauty number 2?
Hey can I go with you, when the rendezvous' over?
(Hey can I go with you, my beauty number 2, my beauty number 2, his beauty number...)
(Hey can I go with you, when this rendezvous', when this rendezvous', when the rendevous'...)
(When the rendevous' over)
(It's not over)
(No, it's not over)
The alarms went off at three
Funny how I'm not laughing now
Loneliness a guarantee

He's not coming home to me

this is my favorite song of my favorite band. i think its about a couple, she cheated on him,
"funny how im not laughing now loneliness the guarantee"
the lover left her, so she has nobody now.
hey can i go with you my beauty number2 hey can i go with when the rendez vous over its over
she's actually playing with the feelings of two persons, her beauty #2 is her lover and she's asking him if she could go with him when the appointment ("rendez vous" in french) with her boyfriend ends. these are just my thoughts, love ladytron!
She is waiting up for her partner. Her partner is out with someone else. She accepts this. It's an open relationship, but she still feels a desire to leave. She feels like the runner up.
agree about the open relationship...
agree about the open relationship...
"I sent you out to play last night" --- Could indicate that maybe she was even the one initiating to have an open relationship.
"I sent you out to play last night" --- Could indicate that maybe she was even the one initiating to have an open relationship.
"Funny how I'm not laughing now He's not coming home to me" --- Sounds like she never showed/admitted how she truly felt, laughing her feelings off maybe cuz she was scared of letting him too close (which could have led him into the arms of someone else stopping his experience of "open relationship" for something serious)... But at the same time took him for granted and thought he would come...

But at the same time took him for granted and thought he would come home to her anyway, like usual.
"The alarms went off at three" --- Since she can recall the exact times during night it could indicate that although she thinks he's coming home anyway she secretly stares at the clock wondering when he is coming home because deep inside she knows one day he won't which in the end turned into reality.
The tragic is that she now realizes that fcking around is not what she truly wants either and the irony is that she now ends up fcking around again (with #2) to fall out of love.
Maybe I'm far off... just some thoughts.
these are the correct lyrics and when there right they usually make more since.
sent you out to play last night the alarms went off at 3 funny how im not laughing now loneliness the guarantee.

This song is beautiful, so the title is appropriate.
Am I the only one who hears a sound from chrono trigger at 2:47?!
@Rems fuck, from now on till forever.

Does it have any connection to Andy Warhol's film Beauty #2...?
not sure if it has anything to do with andy warhols film beauty no. 2:
Edie, in a skimpy outfit of bra and panties, and Gino, wearing only jockey shorts, engage in flirting and light kissing. Chuck asks Edie questions seemingly designed to harass and annoy her. Gino is more or less a bystander not interacting with Chuck.
The dialogue seems created adlib and no conclusions are reached in the film. The only conceivable climax is when Edie finally becomes so mad she throws a glass ashtray at Chuck, breaking it.
this song is so sublime
When the break kicks in and she sings "Hey can I go with you, my beauty number 2?" it feels like by number 2 she is referring to someone else she dates to get over the pain and to distract herself from the loss of her number 1, which didn't come home to her and got involved with someone new. So she asks #2 if she can follow him home after their date since in the first phrase she sings "Loneliness a guarantee" and as we all know being and sleeping alone in bed (which you shared with #1) after a breakup is the hardest and one needs some closeness, warmth and distraction to fall out of love and often we choose some beauty number 2 right after to get over number 1. In the end though when she says "When the rendevous' over" at the same time she ends up swinging back and forth between realization that her love with #1 is over and denial that it can't be over: "It's over It's not over No, it's not over"
Beautiful, heartfelt and sad lyrics... besides "International Dateline" my favorite song on that record.
Must add some more thoughts I missed in my last post:
Must add some more thoughts I missed in my last post:
The feeling of the break symbolizes for me: Before the break it's her moaning. A retrospection of hers... how things went and why it made her lead to (the break) finally getting out of her shell trying to meet someone new. It's interesting how before she was talking to herself and then talks to that new guy (in her head). I find it amazing how artists/musicians can reflect such inner thoughts and situations into sound and make listeners understand. This song creates pictures in my head, like a scene out...

This song creates pictures in my head, like a scene out of a movie and I can actually see her (or even see me).
There is a reference, but not to Andy Warhol film. It's actually set in a futuristic sci-fi world (as you can tell from the music itself). Let me tell you what this song is really about.
//back-story In the year circa 2116, a faster-than-light starship Von Braun is colonized by aliens known as "annelids" or "The Many". (They're a species similar to the Zerg in StarCraft.) A couple onboard try to escape from the ship. Their names are Rebecca Siddons and Tommy Suarez. //back-story ends.
You are the hero. The couple contact you for help. You repair the escape pods for them, and "rendezvous" with them. You watch them escape in the pod and you are wondering "hey can I go with you?" The answer is no, you can't go with them. Your job on the ship "is not over". You still need to fight the aliens before you can go home.
"Beauty Number 2" refers to Rebecca Siddons. SHODAN is Number 1 (that is, your virtual girlfriend) and Siddons is "Number 2". The romantic thing is attractive, but not the main focus of this song. The main focus is RESPONSIBILITY. You could go with the couple, but there would be "consequence" -- it would "all turn to dust". It's up to you to save the universe blah blah blah (but since Thom Yorke said he could do that, why can't you?)
You have to experience the scary, cold and lonely Von Braun to understand it better. It's a warm and touching (while also a little sad) feeling to finally see someone escape from the ship alive. And this song captures that feeling perfectly.
"It's not over" is the key line here. You will want to hear this song only when it's NOT over. When it IS over, there are happier songs to listen to.
