Grey Sky Eyes Lyrics
Grey sky, always in your eye
Where is the girl behind the cloud?
Grey sky, always floating by
But I only peek when I'm allowed
You welcome me in
And your veil is so thin
But the mystery continues to grow
You say you must realize
That my grey sky eyes
Neither rain, nor they glow... now you know
So I'll try to not act so suprised
I'll feel my way, I'll underplay
All my curiosity and hide
All the questions in my skin
You welcome me in
And your veil is so thin
But the mystery continues to grow
You say you must realize
That my grey sky eyes
Neither rain, nor they glow... now you know
They neither rain nor they glow... now you know
Grey Sky, I think I changed my mind
I find no need to pretend
Grey Sky, would you allow me to be
So into you, my friend?
Could you welcome me in
With your veil that's so thin
As the the mystery continues to grow?
You say you must realize
That my grey sky eyes
Neither rain, nor they glow... now you know
They neither rain nor they glow... now you know
They neither rain nor they glow... now you know
Where is the girl behind the cloud?
Grey sky, always floating by
But I only peek when I'm allowed
And your veil is so thin
But the mystery continues to grow
You say you must realize
That my grey sky eyes
Neither rain, nor they glow... now you know
I'll feel my way, I'll underplay
All my curiosity and hide
All the questions in my skin
And your veil is so thin
But the mystery continues to grow
You say you must realize
That my grey sky eyes
Neither rain, nor they glow... now you know
They neither rain nor they glow... now you know
I find no need to pretend
Grey Sky, would you allow me to be
So into you, my friend?
With your veil that's so thin
As the the mystery continues to grow?
You say you must realize
That my grey sky eyes
Neither rain, nor they glow... now you know
They neither rain nor they glow... now you know
They neither rain nor they glow... now you know

@getlucky9797 it’s about a guy mustering up the courage to ask a girl out. A person having grey eyes is rare, but my grandfather and aunt both had grey eyes, the girl this song is about does too.

“Would you allow me to be so into you my friend” is him finally approaching her
“Would you allow me to be so into you my friend” is him finally approaching her
It's basically talking about a boy that finds himself in a relationship with a girl that is really hard to read. She vaugly shows him her true colors but in a very suble way: "With your veil that's so thin" so he is constanly asking questions. But he is scared to ask them: "I'll feel my way, I'll underplay All my curiosity and hide All the questions in my skin" Because he either 1. likes the fact that she is a mystery, or:
I have to agree with secondhandsmoke, this is definitely about a guy who is in love with a girl who either doesn't really pay him much mind, is totally aloof, or may be interested in him but really doesn't know how to show it. Any way you see it, what is evident is that he is a bit lost with the lack of luster in their relationship. I tend to think it is the latter, but that is my interpretation of the song. I hope this helps.
i agree with you both but it is an amazing song
Perhaps the girl feels ordinary and is shy so she tells him that he must understand that behind her grey sky eyes it is neither raining nor glowing. He feels a strong liking toward her but underplays his curiosity towards the girl behind the cloud where she is comfortable. Then he decides to tell her truthfully how he feels and show her that he had underplayed his feelings. He definitely wants to penetrate her complacent resistance.
Great song. It reminds me of a girl who was really great and nice and funny but she always thought she wasn't worth much to the world so she went through life with a glass half empty outlook. I always think of her when I hear this song because she has grey sky eyes.
