I Really Want You Lyrics

I really want you
I really want you

Many Prophets preach on bended knees
Many clerics wasted wine,
Do the bloody sheets and those troubled streets mean?
I have wasted time,

Are there silver shores on paradise?
Can I come in from the cold?
I killed a man in a far away land
My enemy untold

I really want you to really want me
But I really don’t know if you can do that (really want you)
I know you want to know what’s right
But I know so hard for you to do that (really want you)
Time's running out as it often does
And often dictates that you can't do that (really want you)
Fate can't break this feeling inside
That's burning up through my veins...

I really want you
I really want you
I really want you
Now...

No matter what I say or do
The message isn’t getting through
And you’re listening to the sound
Of my breaking heart

I really want you
I really want you

Is a poor man rich in solitude?
Or when mother earth complained
Did the beggar pray for a sunny day but
Lady luck for rain

They say a million people bow and scream
To an effigy of gold
As so life begin
And the ship we're in
And history unfold

I really want you to really want me
But I really don’t know if you can do that (really want you)
I know you want to know what’s right
But I know so hard for you to do that (really want you)
Time's running out as it often does
And often dictates that you can't do that (really want you)
Fate can't break this feeling inside
That's burning up through my veins...

I really want you
I really want you
I really want you
Now...

No matter what I say or do
The message isn’t getting through
And you’re listening to the sound
Of my breaking heart

I really want you
I really want you
I really want you

Okay, I am an athiest, and so is my mother. But to both of us, it's quite obvious that he's talking about God. And the fact he was in the army, and he wants God to forgive him for killing all thse people.

"No matter what i say or do, the message isn't getting through, and you're listening to the sound of my braking heart" implies that he thinks it might be too late for him...He's not sure if even God will forgive him now.

Is the third line not 'Do the bloodied sheets on those cobbled streets'?

Ya...they put "troubled" and another site put "cardboard" so confusing... It SOUNDS like cobbled. I'm listening to it now...

It's probably the same old "I love you, girl, come be with me" thing, but I can't help wondering if it might not be about God instead of a woman. I mean, the whole first verse sounds more like he's sitting down asking God the questions that are on his mind. "Many prophets preach on bended knee. Many claricks wasted wine. Do the bloodied sheets on those cobbled streets mean I have wasted time?" sounds like maybe he's thinking about how he may have pushed God to the back of his mind and is now wondering if he's wasted too much time to start following him more attentively. "Are there silver shores in Paradise? Can I come in from the cold? I killed a man in a far-away land, My enemy untold." seems to suggest that he's pondering over what heaven might be like and if he will be allowed in. He's feeling guilty for killing people during his time in the army and is wondering if that will keep him out of the Lord's kingdom when he dies ["Thou shalt not kill"]. The chorus seems to be basically saying that time is running out as he grows older and that he can't get rid of his of need for God. He really wants God and he really wants God to accept and want him too. "No matter what I say or do, The message isn't getting through And you're listening to the sound Of my breaking heart." This could be a reference to how it feels like God isn't listening when we pray and because he doesn't think God is paying attention to what he's saying, his heart is breaking.

Whatever this song is actually about though, it's absolutely beautiful and awesome. It caught my attention right away. His new album totally doesn't suck like I thought it might.

I think it is easy if everyone would take a minute and look at the "Questions". This is sincerely a man struggling with his salvation. He wants so hard to believe in God but the actions of His "Supposed" followers (references to prophits, etc) have poisoned His true message.
