Wicker Man Lyrics
When the dying western sun dips low
And the raincloud rises in the east
Between the lines of truth and the words of faith
Lie the fiery duties of the be priest
Stir the blood of ancient things
Drawing down the moon
From the hill of Tarna see the beltane fires
And the silent Celtic kings await
From the midnight hour to the light of dawn
Feel the mountain tremble and your heart will shake
Stir the memories of the stones
We are drawing down the moon
In the circle of the old ways
Of the wicker man...
Wicker man, wicker man
From the beacon hill,
cast your fire on this land
Wicker man, wicker man
From the beacon hill,
throw your ashes in our hands
Let the pendulum go
Let it sway away
Let the chimes ring out
On this solstice day
When the earth renews
When the seed reveals
When we are reborn
Every waking dream
When the earth renews itself
When the seed reveals itself
[x2]
When we are reborn
In every waking dream
Every tree and leaf
Every frozen stream
Wicker man
When the earth renews itself
Wicker man
When the seed reveals itself
Wicker man
When we are reborn
Wicker man
In every waking dream
Wicker man
Every tree and leaf
Wicker man
Every frozen stream
[x2]
And the raincloud rises in the east
Between the lines of truth and the words of faith
Lie the fiery duties of the be priest
Drawing down the moon

Ok...seriosly alot of Iron Maiden songs have to do with Past Literature ..but i dont think this one does....Truthfully i belive it Means......Sooner or later the hand of fate will point to you and you will die....and basically it describes death....Welcoming to the Parlor Gates....How there is truthfully no time so you watch newborn babies everyday which is beautiful but you also watch the world explode everynight...cuz YOUR TIME WILL COME!!
Wrong "Wicker Man" phikita. You're thinking of the Iron Maiden track, which is completely different.
This song seems to refer to a lot of North European Nordic beliefs. The wicker man was a straw figure that was burnt as worship to their gods and they believed that every ash and amber that resulted from this burning would bless everything it comes in contact with.
FreeFragSGS is right, you have even film with Nicolas Cage "The Wicker Man"
this song is actually about the original 1973 movie, "The Wicker Man", not the Nicholas Cage remake which changes the script completely
This song seems to be more about the celtic ritual than the 1973 movie. According to Julius Caesar the Wicker Man was used for human sacrifices to praise the gods. However some believe that this was rather war propaganda and there were no human sacrifices.
Anyway, there's just one thing I don't know about these lyrics. What is the "hill of Tarna"?
@revanchist I keep seeing this mistake everywhere. It shouldn't be Tarna. It's the Hill of Tara, which is a ancient Celtic hill in Ireland which used to be ruled by Celtic Kings and Beltaine fires would be lit at every year at the festival of Beltaine. It fits in perfectly within the context of the lyrics yet all of the lyric websites seem to get it wrong.
