Shine Lyrics
You know, All of you know
To grow, what to feel
And so, follow me low
You are what you lean on
Come out of the cold
And drift, into water
Ooooooohh
And the light shines on
While we all ride on
When the days come and gone
You know we all ride on
Lines thicker than ground
You surf and its real
To soar over and down
To bend and to breathe on
Ooooooohh
And the light shines on
While we all ride on
When the days come and gone
You know we all ride on
Through water when
We are falling
The sounds of bells are ringing out
We'll ride on
Slipped over
The blue lighting
Springs alive to circle down
Ooooooohh
And the light shines on
While we all ride on
When the days come and gone
You know we all ride on
Now the light shines on
While we all ride on
When the days come and gone
You know we all shine on
To grow, what to feel
And so, follow me low
You are what you lean on
Come out of the cold
And drift, into water
And the light shines on
While we all ride on
When the days come and gone
You know we all ride on
You surf and its real
To soar over and down
To bend and to breathe on
And the light shines on
While we all ride on
When the days come and gone
You know we all ride on
We are falling
The sounds of bells are ringing out
We'll ride on
The blue lighting
Springs alive to circle down
And the light shines on
While we all ride on
When the days come and gone
You know we all ride on
While we all ride on
When the days come and gone
You know we all shine on

I think this song means no matter what happens, we still have to continue to live life and tomorrow will always come. It's a really good song.
Shine celebrates the inevitability of change. It's he's willing to risk everything he's achieved for the freedom of a new beginning.
There's a poem by William Blake that Trey has quoted in respect to the song : 'He who binds himself to a joy, does the winged life destroy: But he who kisses the joy as it flies, lives in eternity's sun rise.'"
Anastasio requotes Blake's idea in his own words in this song. "I wanted to start off with something that summed up the point that seemingly negative events - which are basically just moments of painful change - may come and go, but the light is always shining on. It's always going to be there, no matter what."
