You know, all of you know, to grow
What to be on
And so, follow below
You are what you lean on
Come out of the cold, and drift
In still water

Ooh
And the light shines on
What we all ride on
When the day's come and gone
You know we all ride on

Lines figure the ground
You surf, and it's real
To soar over and down
To bend, and to breathe on

Ooh
And the light shines on
What we all ride on
And when the day's come and gone
You know we all ride on

Through water when, beyond falling
With sounds of bells all ringing out
We'll ride on
Slipped over the blue lining
Springs alive to circle down

Ooh
And the light shines on
What we all ride on
And when the day's come and gone
You know we all ride on

And the light shines on
What we all ride on
And when the day's come and gone
You know we all shine on

I think this song means no matter what happens, we still have to continue to live life and tomorrow will always come. It's a really good song.

Shine celebrates the inevitability of change. It's he's willing to risk everything he's achieved for the freedom of a new beginning. There's a poem by William Blake that Trey has quoted in respect to the song : 'He who binds himself to a joy, does the winged life destroy: But he who kisses the joy as it flies, lives in eternity's sun rise.'" Anastasio requotes Blake's idea in his own words in this song. "I wanted to start off with something that summed up the point that seemingly negative events - which are basically just moments of painful change - may come and go, but the light is always shining on. It's always going to be there, no matter what."

Sounds like random phrases selected for their percussive values & general singability.
