Asleep At The Trigger Lyrics
i'm just studying you
fold up all over town
stereo-mindset sucking you down
you're dressed up
look what you've said
but left your insides at home
hit me with your smile again
hit me with your smile again
dissapear beneath the day
oh no its still the same
you make it hard to breathe
you make it hard to breathe
you miss everything that's in your way
you miss everything that's good for you
it kinda gets me down
it kinda gets me down
it kinda gets me down
look you think i'm unglued
but still studying you
you fold up all over town
stereo-mindset sucking you down
fold up all over town
stereo-mindset sucking you down
look what you've said
but left your insides at home
hit me with your smile again
hit me with your smile again
oh no its still the same
you make it hard to breathe
you make it hard to breathe
you miss everything that's good for you
it kinda gets me down
it kinda gets me down
it kinda gets me down
but still studying you
you fold up all over town
stereo-mindset sucking you down

i totally see this as a love song, unrequited love to almost the point of obsession, the writer (the one with unrequited love), feels bitter that s/he cannot be with the other person and takes them apart for their weaknesses, yet still loves them.
you can see the contrast in the lyrics, hit me with your smile / you make it hard to breath / it kinda gets me down / stereo mindset sucking you down. i feel that more than anything it is definitely a love song.
Look, you think I’m unglued. I’m just studying you. You fold up all over town. Stero-mindset sucking you down.
I’m not crazy, I’m just trying to get a sense of the person you really are. It seems to me that everyone around here knows you. The gossip around you seems to overcome you.
You’re dressed up, but look what you’ve said. You left your insides at home. Hit me with your smile agian. Hit me with your smile again.
You look nice on the outside, but you’ve just said something that’s obviously made your surroundings uneasy. It’s hard to say “look on the inside” because you don’t have one; you don’t have a heart. But that smile knocks me down every time.
Disappear beneath the day. Oh no, it’s still the same. You make it hard to breathe. You make it hard to breathe.
Even with your day-to-day monstrosity, you continue to take my breath away.
You miss everything that’s in your way. You miss everything that’s good for you. It kinda gets me down. It kinda gets me down. It kinda gets me down.
Things constantly get you distracted and you constantly steer clear of anything that could potentially care about you. And that sucks.
Look, you think I’m unglued, but I’m still studying you. You fold up all over town. Stereo-mindset sucking you down.
Stop accusing me of being crazy. You’re just so unpredictable, and I’m still trying to figure you out.
It's about being an observer, remote, aloof, never quite taking part in everything and nobody really understanding that.
well, because these lyrics weren't allready here i decided to type them out for my own viewing pleasure and submit them. they're really good but i have to be honest and say that the atmosphere of the song really does enhance them moreso than than the lyrics.
it's a good song, with decent lyrics. the music makes the lyrics way better.
i'm thinking this song is probably about written from the prespective of someone who is possibly content and strictly living in the present and appreciating all aspects of life and accepting failure as well as the inverse.
this person is possibly analyzing a person who chooses to neglect all aspects of life and only concentrate on the the positive. someone who denies the finer, smaller, and more meaningful things in life by the way they act, smile, and even look.
in complete absence of practical thought.
and this person has obviously judged the writer in ways. "look you think i'm unglued"
this song means some things to me. but honestly, i can't say this is the meaning, this is just what i'm thinking the writer was getting at by writing this song.
I'm curious of how y'all interpret the line "fold up all over town."
@KreiganHalifax To disappear, become unreachable, or doing-god-knows what.

I think I'm going to to to sleep now . . .
does someone have any idea about what stereo mindset sucking you down might mean?
@tralalalalas this reply is about 16 years late, but I was thinking about it today randomly, and I'm guessing that "stereo-mindset is sucking you down" is a reference to either double-minded thinking or only seeing things in black and white, since a stereo is only output on 2 channels of frequency

look you think i'm unglued but still studying you you fold up all over town stereo-mindset sucking you down
They think the singer is unlgued. Singer sees more in the person, enough to 'study' them Singer sees that they close them selves off, don't let themselves out The 'stereo-mindset' (attitudes of what is on the radio - what is popular) keeps them from letting it out
The singer sees what this person could really be and it 'gets them down.'
Love this song.
