First of all this song is obviously from Bella's POV. also Hailey from Paramore dd an interview saying that she really connected with Bella so I imagine she would write a song about her feelings. --- How can I decide what's right When you're clouding up my mind? --- This seems to be how Bella cant think straight or make good decisions because Edward is making it impossible to think straight --- I can't win You're losing fight All the time --- No matter what decision she makes its not gonna be a good one...I'm not really sure about that line -- Nor can I ever own what's mine When you're always taking sides --- She wants to own Edward but he's making it impossible when he keeps changing his mind about whether or not he should be friends with her --- But you won't take away my pride No, not this time Not this time --- Bella's not gonna let him get away --- How did we get here? I think that the people who wrote that it was about the artist inner struggle is correct. It's pretty obvious from the video that the lead singer is going through an internal conflict with his darker self. he's trying to fight off what he used to be/do whether it was cutting (which i think was obvious) and possibly a drug addiction. i liked msjulz explanation about the heart on his backpack being his life stuck to the addiction. like having a monkey on your back. but i also thought that the heart could mean his feelings put into his lyrics and music (the backpack) and his music is all that he knows. he's putting what he's been going through out there for everyone because thats all that he knows to do. |
