The Road and the Radio Lyrics
Ain't nothing out here but me, the road and the radio
Looking for an exit and a song that I might know
Counting down the memories and adding up the miles
Searching for a feeling I ain't felt in a while
Clarity and inspiration
Happiness is a destination that's hard to find
It may take some time
But in my mind there's something more
And I'll open up a brand new door
And find the strength to close the ones I left behind
And I'll get there leanin' on some friends I know:
The road and the radio
Spent the night in Carolina, got up early out of bed
Bought a Red Bull and a road map and a old Stones cassette
Setting my sights south bound, no reason or rhyme
Threw up a prayer just lookin', just lookin' for a sign
And some clarity and inspiration
Happiness is a destination that's hard to find
It may take some time
But in my mind there's something more
And I'll open up a brand new door
And find the strength to close the ones I left behind
And I'll get there leanin' on some friends I know:
The road and the radio
In my mind there's something more
And I'll open up a brand new door
And find the strength to close the ones I left behind
And I'll get there leanin' on some friends I know:
The road and the radio
The road and the radio
The road and the radio
Mmmm-mmm-mmm ...
The road and the radio
The road and the radio
Mmmm-mmm-mmm ...

This song means everything to me. The Road and the Radio is really exactly what I do half the time. If I'm lost or am down and depressed, I just hit the road and drive for hours with a nice tune on the radio. It's the best theropy you could ever wish for, especially in the summer with the windows down and the sun setting. This is the song playing on my radio now adays.
This is an awesome song. There's nothing like a nice car ride with the radio on to calm your nerves. It really is good therapy for your emotions. Music is a cure for whatever emotionally ails you - whether you're driving in a car or not.
I can relate to this song as a writer. Sometimes to get that "clarity and inspiration," I need to just get into my car and take a drive with some music on. And if I need a little caffeine jump once in a while, then so be it. But not red bull. Ick. This song is exactly why I like Kenny Chesney. I used to hate country music, but listening to Kenny's music made me fall in love with country music. I couldn't ask for better music. Thanks to Kenny Chesney for giving me some music worth listening to.
I'm just learning to drive, so don't know much about being in a car and listen to the radio - though I'm the one who always turnes it on when my parents drive me, ever since I was little. When I'm in a bad mood I do go out to ride my bike and listen to my walkman ... yes, a very old one! I can just sing along and make myself tired and then go to sleep and when I wake up things don't seem that bad anymore.
