Hello Hammerheads Lyrics
she told me to stay
or go away
and I looked in her eyes and left her
some people try
to tell me why
I made up my mind and left her
(humming)
she told me to stay
or go away
and I looked in her eyes and left her
some people try
to tell me why
I made up my mind and left her
(humming)
or go away
and I looked in her eyes and left her
some people try
to tell me why
I made up my mind and left her
or go away
and I looked in her eyes and left her
some people try
to tell me why
I made up my mind and left her

wow, i was just about to post these lyrics which is incredibly ironic. I think that it is straight forward what this song is talking about. I just really love it! one of Caribou's best. I honestly can not stop listening to it.
I just discovered this song by accident when using Limewire, and I have to say, I'm definately going to look for their CD. This song is one of the greatest mellow pieces out there, and harkens back to Simon and Garfunkel.
Hippias, I would just like to warn you before you spend money on the CD: the styles on Caribou/Manitoba's "The Milk of Human Kindness" vary wildly. This is one of the only songs with lyrics! I suggest you sample Dan's previous album as Manitoba "Up In Flames" if you like this song, as that album contains a lot more lyrical content with more accessible melodic content.
couldBanyone - thanks for the advice. It turns out that I'm fairly pleased with the album overall. Brumheller and Hello Hammerheads are up there on the favorites from the album, but Bees, and Barnowl come up not far behind. I'm going to browse about for Manitoba now though, as per your suggestion. Thanks. Anymore suggestions, please, email them to me!
arghh.. i only somewhat recently discovered this song.. and though i absolutely love it and can't stop singing it, and though the lyrics -are- straightforward, i am so frustrated by what caribou -doesn't- say! that is, why did he leave her? why do people feel the need to justify his action; didn't he have justification? is the absence of his reasoning the cause of their justification? what did they conclude?!
..as usual, i'm totally overthinking things, wishing there were some way of knowing the back story.. and, in doing so, am totally overlooking the fact that the song -sounds- good, and that's all that matters.
I absolutely love this song. It's so chill and mellow. I love this album, "The Milk of Human Kindness", with all of the instrumentals.
"Pelican Narrows" is my favourite thing at this time to just put on repeat and chillax with. 8D
