The Fight Lyrics
Would you go to war for me, baby?
Would you cry for the weak
And die for the peace of men?
Oh how can we know?
You and I both don't
So lets make this boatload of excuses burn and sink
One day it all comes down to this
You can sink or swim
You can hit or miss
One day it all comes down
One day we all come down
I'll take my heart back and set the people free
I'll leave the dead to die and take who's coming with me
Step back for all the world to see
Your life means all the world to me
I'll take all pain and suffering
But I'm such a sucker sometimes
Sometimes we dont know
So plug up those bullet holes
Oh you feel so close don't let go until I say,
"One day we'll drink to this and say,
"Remember when we died... We went out in flames!'"
One day we'll drink to this and say,
'Remember when we died, we went out....'"
I'll take my heart back and set the people free
I'll leave the dead to die and take who's coming with me
I'll take my heart back and set the people free
I'll leave the dead to die... there will be blood in the streets.
Would you cry for the weak
And die for the peace of men?
Oh how can we know?
You and I both don't
So lets make this boatload of excuses burn and sink
You can sink or swim
You can hit or miss
One day it all comes down

Knocloo27, I think your over analyzing it a bit. The Classic Crime has some serious potential for success. Bravo for those of you who already know about this awsome band. They definitely aren't like all of the other cookie cutter bands like Panic at the Disco and FallOutBoy. They defy the norm.
love love love this song and band... i got to see themin seattle a couple months back =]
this is quite an amazing song by an unknown band. he seems to be talking to a girl judging by "baby" so that messes up the Jesus thing.
I agree with about half of what knocloo said. My disagreements: "How can we know" how God may use us? The "excuses" thing, I think that's Christians making excuses not to go and tell people about God. (the lines I don't mention are ones I agree with) "I'll take my heart back" from the way of the world, and its tricks and traps, and the ways Christians sometimes drift and let the world take them instead of God. "I'll take all pain and suffering" meaning to defend each other. And I have completed my minor change to your ideas.
ok, what about when it says, "One day we'll drink to this and say, "Remember when we died... We went out in flames!"' what is this supposed to mean?? this is a christian band, and i'm a christian, too, i just don't understand it...
One day we'll drink to this and say, "Remember when we died...we went out in flames!" I'm not sure what "we went out in flames" is supposed to mean, but this is how I interpret the rest: He's talking about making a toast to the time they "died"(when they gave up their sin).In the Bible it says to "take up your cross", that Christians are "dead to sin", and that you have to lose your life to gain it. You have to die to your old sinful self to be alive. So basically he's just saying, "One day we'll celebrate...

I think that "we went out in flames" in speaking about our old sinful nature alludes to God burning away our old nature leaving us pure in Him, "for our God is a consuming fire" (Hebrews 12:29).

"In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith–of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire–may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed." 1 Peter 1:6-7...

I think this band has a load of potential. :) What I don't get, though, is how this band constitues as Christian rock; where does it say that? Sure, the lyrics can be interpreted as being Christian, but I have yet to see a statement where it says this band is Christian. So someone please tell me where this band has stated that they are Christian rock?
Not that I have anything against it; I'm just curious. Otherwise, I think that, Biblical inferences or no, they're just an awesome rock band. With pretty lyrics.
they have actually stated that they arent a christian band. but they are christians in a band so they put biblical things into there music.

This is a response to eleven confined's question about where the band says they are christian: In the insert in their CD almost all of the members thamk either God or Jesus, you won't find that in a secular band's insert. Also they are put out by tooth and nail records which is christian/alternative music.
I think maybe everyone is reading too much into it. GREAT FUCKING SONG! They are AWSOME live!
i think this is about the journey out of egypt...mainly because of the chorus of the song.
"I'll take my heart back and set the people free I'll leave the dead to die and take who's coming with me I'll take my heart back and set the people free I'll leave the dead to die... there will be blood in the streets."
the dead are the people who no longer believe, the blood in the streets refers to passover and the plague. just an idea.
this is merely my humble opinion:
[Would you go to war for me, baby? Would you cry for the weak And die for the peace of men? Oh how can we know? You and I both don't So lets make this boatload of excuses burn and sink]
I believe this verse is the lead singer saying to his girlfriend: would you die for me and be my savior like christ did? probably not. so lets take all these sins, (probably impurities, sexual), that we've been doing, and throw em away. lets stop making each other our own saviors.
The chorus i see as the whole "second coming" idea, the guys saying that that is the reason they gotta straighten out their relationship and live for christ together.
In the last verse he's saying that his girl means everything to him, and that one day they'll look back and see the day they died, AKA the day they let their old, sinful selves go and began to live for Christ. And oh, how beautiful it was.
