I Don't Want to See You Lyrics

I can't believe that I am writing this down and
I can't believe that I've got you in a song
I don't want to be a whining girl
Rather not be anyone

I stole a magazine from the laundry mat
The posters in the back
they were breaking my back
And all I wanted was a bench to rest my weary legs
My silent heart agrees I have done my best

I'll get my operation on the NHS
Will it cure my blushes will it bring on by the past
'Cuz someone said I was a woman pretending to be a girl
And I will make no comments as a I hide myself

Things can go wrong
And when is it going to stop
You casually walk back to your inn tonight
Take the flight of stairs
Softly dim the light
Fantasise about how happy you'd be with a girl tonight

I don't want to see you down
I don't want to see you hanging around
I don't want to see you down
I don't want to see you hanging around

I actually think this could be about a girl getting a breast reduction...

"I stole a magazine from the laundry mat The posters in the back they were breaking my back And all I wanted was a bench to rest my weary legs My silent heart agrees I have done my best"

There's always posters in the back of magazines for surgery - granted they're usually for an increase rather than a decrease in bust size, but still. Or maybe she's looking at ads for boob jobs and wondering how anyone could want massive breasts when she struggles so much with hers - they break her back and lugging them around makes her legs weary. Her silent heart agrees that she has done her best to live with it but she's reached breaking point now

"I'll get my operation on the NHS Will it cure my blushes will it bring on by the past 'Cuz someone said I was a woman pretending to be a girl And I will make no comments as a I hide myself"

She's been granted a reduction on the NHS as the size of her bust causes her physical and mental trauma. She remembers when she was younger and she used to be so embarrassed at being so well developed - people would say that she was a woman pretending to be a girl as she was so young but her breasts were so large, she'd say nothing and just try to hide her chest

I don't know, it seems far fetched but it makes sense in accordance to the lyrics, right?

"I actually think this could be about a girl getting a breast reduction." You may be correct, although your terminology is a little off.

It's called a boob reduction, although not socially correct...but quite accurate. A boob is soomeone who thinks with a body part; short term; and in a superficial manner. Kind of like those old guys who refuse to admit they're OLD; act like children; lie and cheat to get ahead (or to get head); and hang out in bars/clubs alone when they're in their 40's and all their friends have moved on...except the other losers who everyone laughs at as well. My own boobs are causing me pain and need reduction; one is obviously larger than the other, but just as...

rather not be anyone=rather not be in your world on by the past=out my best I hide myself=I've had my fill

I'm sure I'm totally wrong, but maybe it's about a guy making offensive comments to a girl on the street.

Here are the right lyrics:

I can’t believe that I’m writing this down I can’t believe I’ve got you in a song I don’t want to be a whining girl I’d rather not be in your world I stole a magazine from a Laundromat The posters in the bag they were breaking my back All I wanted was a bench to rest my weary legs I sat and had a greet, I have done my best

I’ll get my operation on the N.H.S Will it cure my blushes will it bring out my best? Some will say I was a woman pretending to be a girl I will make no comment of this I’ve had my fill This can’t go on When is it going to stop? You casually walked back to your room tonight Take the flight of stairs and softly dim the light Fantasize about how happy you’d be with a girl tonight

I don’t want to see you down I don’t want to see you hanging around I don’t want to see you down I don’t want to see you hanging around

very sad song, what is with the National Health Service reference, or does she mean another nhs?

Cover art for I Don't Want to See You lyrics by Camera Obscura

NHS- refers to the National Health Service used by those living in the UK. It's basically a free public health system similar to Canada or France. (unlike the US which has NO FREE HEALTH CARE for its citizens...so rich, yet so poor!!!)

I believe he's really saying "I don't want you...period." Enough is enough.

He should have ended the song, "Good luck to you" but don't come around here ever...

My 2 Cents: It's from the perspective of a transexual woman dumped by a str8 dude who couldn't handle her being trans. Evidence: "I’ll get my operation on the N.H.S Will it cure my blushes will it bring out my best? Some will say I was a woman pretending to be a girl" The NHS pays for transsexual surgery, and the narrator seems to be looking forward to it making her more attractive to men. "Fantasize about how happy you’d be with a girl tonight" She feels sorry for herself by imagining the boy wishing for a real girlfriend, rather then whatever she is.
