I'm surprised no one's commented on this one yet. This almost seems like a sequel to Nos de Cariad to me, only the feeling is much more peaceful. What strikes me here is the image of swans on the jet black water, and makes me think of someone walking through the park at sunset thinking about someone they've lost. This is a beautiful song, and I think David Gray is one of the best songwriters when it comes to blending music with imagery in his words.
I completely agree that it is unfortunate that no one has commented. I also agree that he has to be one of the greatest song writers of all time. i cant listen to him without vividly picturing everything in his songs.
Ah, like his "Nos da Cariad" song, it's another "we're in it together" ~against the ignorance of the world~ kind of song. Lovely, lovely. Good depth and sincerity.
