Wunderkind Lyrics

Oh, perilous place walk backwards toward you
Blink disbelieving eyes chilled to the bone
Most visibly brave no apprehended bloom
First to take this foot to virgin snow

I am magnet for all kinds of deeper wonderment
I am a wunderkind
And I live the envelope pushed far enough to believe this
I am a princess on the way to my throne
Destined to serve, destined to roam

Oh, ominous place spellbound and un-child-proofed
My least favorite shelter bear alone
Compatriots in face they’d cringe if I told you
Our best back pocket secret our bond full blown

And I am a magnet for all kinds of deeper wonderment
I am a wunderkind
And I am pioneer naïve enough to believe this
I am a princess on the way to my throne
Destined to seek, destined to know

Most beautiful place reborn and blown off roof
My view about face whether great will be done

And I am a magnet for all kinds of deeper wonderment
I am a wunderkind
I am a groundbreaker naïve enough to believe this
I am a princess on the way to my throne

And I am a magnet for all kinds of deeper wonderment
I am a wunderkind

I am a Joan of Arc and smart enough to believe this
I am a princess on the way to my throne
Destined to reign, destined to roam
Destined to reign, destined to roam

I really like this song alot, the only thing that bothers me about it is that she mispronounces wunderkind. It's a German word meaning "wonder child," which is why I love the song. But really, you could make an effort to pronouce the word correctly. Its the only think that, in my mind, ruins this wonderful song.

This song has such a magical feel to it a perfectly translates the feelings in the movie, Narnia, into music.

I agree with diggerjoc and wolf cub. It perfectly encompasses the story. And "wunderkind" isn't difficult to pronounce correctly.

Welp, That just sounds like Alanis tho you guys... I'm sure she knew how to pronounce wunderkind and she pronounced it the way it would be in English, because she's just cool like that.

wunderkind referres to someone who is young and is very skilled in many aspects and also who is performing at the level of a highly trained adult in a very demanding field of endeavor.

the song referres to the character of lucy in the movie The Chronicals Of Nania, The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe.

The contention of the song, which is written from the point of view of the character of Lucy Pevensie describes herself as "a magnet for all kinds of deeper wonderment", "a wunderkind" and "a princess on the way to [her] throne" during the chorus.

of course the mispronunciation is intentional

I don't think I'm the only one listening to Alanis Morissette, so this one shouldn't come as a surprise. This singer puts a second meaning in every word, if you ask me. And that she wrote this from "Lucy Pevensie", yeah, for the movie maybe, but she'd never sing a song that didn't mean lots of other things. The definition for this song in my eyes is just plain BRILLIANT!!! What the song is about? Well, personally it makes me think of growing up. A new road, new places to go (first foot on virgin snow). The destination on the end and the fact you'll travel with your head held high (a princess on the way to her throne). The magnet for strange things is in my heart translated as keeping faith and just believe in what happens. But it's just an interpretation....

I AM A PRINCESS ON THE WAY TO MY THRONE... this key phrase featured in WUNDERKIND, originally set in the first NARNIA motion picture, opens a whole fairy world of wonderment, imagination and fascination. But there's more: the (to most people unknown) ALHAMBRA and ALCHEMYST remixes of this mysterious song show its lyrics truly hold hidden meanings, revealing the enchantment of words. They're located here: http://catsociety.nl/esa/viewtopic.php?t=94 (in Dutch), with a YouTube link of ALANIS' famous performance at the Closing Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics held in Canada - land of liberty!- eVa

IAM A PRINCESS ON MY WAY TO MY THRONE. This statement represents my status in the Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ. If anyone knows anything about C.S. Lewis you’d realize the symbolism in this story. I would like this song played at my funeral.
