Mckenna's timewave theory finally referrred to in a song! I was well impressed with this, good song too :-D

The drums in this song during the chorus are amazing...
This song refers to all of the theories that surround the year 2012 and there are many out there not just McKenna's Novelty theory...although some of them are skeptical they are interesting to read. Particularly when NASA have confirmed that the sun changes it's poles in 2012...very interesting!
The Maya calender ends in 2012 and there are a lot of conspiracy theories focused on 2012 being "the end"... just theories though - nothing more IMO - unless the Maya's knew something that we don't. Nice song - great drumming.
This song is very important regarding many of the changes the Earth is undergoing. Which my response to it wont be taken lightly, and will be subject to critisizm.

Upon the brink of 2012 mankind is said to be making a "Leap In Consciousness" We are going to "Evolve" as a species, not physically but spiritually. This will definetly be "the end of linear time" because time as we know it, is not linear.
When he speaks of "progress or termination" its clear he is referring to the Ascension process of our evolution or be subject to cataclysmic events. Which one theory of 2012 is that an asteroid will collide with the Earth, which I don't believe will happen.

This is straight forward as well in regards to what I've already stated. A dimensional shift which is the ascension process from our current 3rd density world to a 4th density world. Or we all die of an asteroid.
So overall the demise of 2012 would be the demise of "the world as we know it" and the re-birth of a brand new beginning for mankind.

i somewhat think its possible i dont think some freak thing will happen but we can end the world at the drop of a dime,as we advance so does our weaponry and ego,at some point someone will piss us off and will start a nuclear war and no more man kind.that what i get out of the newness theory but im sure im dead worng but still think about it. song is bad ass stady dub bass.

ive had past life experiences and i know what they are reffering to (partly by memory) but they have no clue what the fuck they are talking about.these are your average humans that are projecting this great understanding that is an advertising scheme.DAVID BYRNE HAS BEEN SAYING THIS FOR YEARS.HIS MUSIC IS SO MUCH MORE SOPHISTICATED AND ORIGINAL.

Besides, you're not looking at the big picture. The song has more meaning to it than simply the destruction of the world in 2012. It has a lot to do with politics, corruption, turning the world into a wasteland, and so forth. So when they refer to 2012 as "progress or termination" it is in reference to our current destruction of the world (wars, deforestation, pollution, etc.) coming to an end and life starting over. So it's up to US...

So it's up to US to decide if 2012 is progress (for the world) or just the simple termination of the human race. You can look at it both ways.
