So write it down in lover's blood
There's gotta be a better way to break this spell
Send out a search party
Have you forgot how to love or how to die
I see the crosses behind your eyes
When will the fire burn out
Is it after we've covered our tracks
I'm not going to stay to find out
He never asked for much
If the fire burns out will it ever light up again
It's been so long since I've seen your eyes this cold
When did you let them step in
When did you let them take control
So sound the alarm
There's gotta be a better way to break this spell
Tell the whole world that I left without his love
At the chiming of the bells
I've been dreaming of elaborate schemes
Thought the love was good for a while
It's been much easier to leave
I've got a new life now
This couldn't have come at a worse time
I guess you had to find out about this
Unrequited love that I deny
You say you fell out of love
Well I call this abandonment

this sounds a lot like underoath not saying its a ripoff well the firts part of the song i cant understand much but i feel that its about falling out of love and in the end it clearly says:

    Well I call this abandonment

Easy to figure what this part of the song is about

I can understand how you can think it sounds like underoath....it kinda has that "its dangerous buisness" intro and feel through out the song. then the slow melodic part reminds me of "drowning in your sleep"....then when "Glass Shatters And Comes To A Halt" reminds me of " I CALL THIS ABANDONMENT"

As for the meaning of the song, i dont really know. It could be about a couples break up. it could be about someone leaving their faith. it could be both. Does anyone else know?

I went through this stage with my boyfriend and i felt like God put this song in my life. My boyfriend broke up with me and i was depressed for the longest time, it happend before but he would always come back i thought this was the end.

When he says "If the fire burns out will it ever light up again" to me that means if u leave will u ever come back. "I'm not going to stay to find out" im not gonna wait anymore "I've got a new life now" i moved on "This couldn't have come at a worse time" you waited too long

this is just my interpretation, what it means to me

in case u were wondering me n my boyfriend are back together and we dont fight anymore because i finally put all my trust in God.

This song is intense. To me this song has been a huge accountability to me in my personal relationship with my Lord and Savior. I'm not sure if that was the original intention. Anything you were thinking before it starts playing is immediately destroyed... it hits on so many levels. All I can say is thank you CV.

I have to agree with all of you, they do sound A LOT like underoath. I guess that's why I like them

chasing victory has the perfect mix of lyrical talent, and music talent. ..and i dont think they sound like underoath at all. but that is just me. and this song is definitely about a questionable break up " if the fire burns out will it ever light up again?" that "couldnt have come at a worse time"...unrequited means " not returned" so maybe there were still feelings on one half of it but it never worked out so they got tired of waiting " i'm not going to stay to find out" and so moved on and " got a new life now " . . . . i dunno, that is what it said to me.

I think this song is about someone who has falle naways from God.. their eyes have turned cold... God has soo much love for us that we could never even began to love him that much in return.. That is what "unrequited" means. Well this person abandoned Gods love when he,"let them step in" So, "sound the alarm" because this song is beautiful...and it's raw rock kills...

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
