i know im about to make some people mad with what im about to write, but this is my opinion. before i say this, i want it to be known that i am a big fan of chad and everything he does. i love state radio and LOVE dispatch, i'll even go as far as to say that this is one of my favorite songs of state radio. but when i researched the meaning behind camilo, i was disapointed. i am no fan of war and am not necessarily for or against war, but what camilo did was outright cowardly. he left the army because he didnt feel like doing it any more because he didnt believe in it. well he shouldnt have joined the army. he knew what he was getting into. he might not have liked it but he shouldnt have run. i know a lot of people who dont like their jobs, but just because they dont like doesnt mean they just stop going and run. now i know this is alot different considering people were dying and stuff, but what did he expect when he joined the army. i hope he didnt think that he would never go to war and never deal with death. that is just my opinion. dont get mad at me. i think everyone is entitled to an opinion.

i downloaded this song cause i thought it was catchy and when i looked the lyrics up here and read the comments, i had to go to the radio state site. what an amazing story. i had no idea what the song was about at first but now that i know i love it so much. i had never heard about camilo and his story and it inspired me so much. it makes me so mad that people who stand up for peace like that can be punished. that isnt what the united states of america is supposed to be about.

I agree with plat- everyone is entitled to his/her opinion and THATS what America is really about. As sad as the story is, if any US citizen signs to join the army, thats like signing your life over to them. I completely agree that its rediculous to hold somebody and make them fight even if the reason they joined for (to find/destroy WMDS in Iraq) didnt exist, but if somebody signs up for the army, its not just for one objective or one war, its for as long as you are contracted, regardless of the situation. If we decided today to invade Mongolia (randomest place i could think of) then sadly every one of our soldiers would have responsibility to be over there...

To platnumben09- I understand what you're trying to get across, but the situation was unfair for him. True, he knew he was going to fight in a war, but he had never experienced it in person before. He probably had never killed someone before, and I could imagine that it would be quite traumatic.

Another point, is that when you sign up to go fight in the army, you're pretty much volunteering yourself. Since it was your choice to start in the first place, why shouldn't you be able to end when you want it to?

I think that this is a great song, and his story should get more attention.

Plat- That's definitely an understandable point. However, if you do not want to fight and kill, you should not have to. Period. At least that's how I view it.
