Open Up

i couldnt believe my ears the first time i listened to open up. its so awesome and weird. i found it amazing that it went straight to acoustic, then to bagpipes, and then to jonathan doing some of his infamous scat sounds. i really like this song.

wow...so at first i thought this song was about Deven Davis. I agreed with Proserpina that it was about being abused, turning to drugs and now that she's with him she can't open up. She breathes in (takes everything in) but can't breathe out. (let it out to him)...BUT...now i believe it was about Head. It completely makes sense. If you listen to Heads testimony..he says he left because he was in a bad place when he was with the band and that he fooled everyone because they didn't know...he said he was doing drugs and they were ruining his life and he tried everything to stop, but he couldn't until he found "God."

Therefore, in reference to the song, Head was taking drugs (that made him talk real slow) Jonathan was thinking he'd "be the last to know" (meaning he'd prob. die if he continued on and would not even know he was putting himself in that position.) then Head was makiing his mind up. "what's sick or a sin?" (notice the use of the word SIN..which derives from religious terms in the sense of morality) "Open up now, let it all go" means telling the band...Head himself said he was doing all kinds of drugs and the band didn't know. "i'm quite certain, say it ain't so" Jonathan knows Head has turned to religion. "you're currupted by, some sick fuck, oh no" I think we all know what Jonathan thinks of organized religion(if not check his tattoos), so it means he's been converted by some "sick fuck." "grilling you softly" is like trying to convert him...pulling him in. "Head in the sky, here's the tongue that keeps telling lies" Head made it seem like KoRn was responsible for his problems, and so he left. But it was he who actually was creating his own problems.the drugs were slowly killing him "choking you gently, gaining control, hand you the shovel to dig your own hole" Jonathan sarcastically says he is givng him the drugs to kill himself. He's mocking Head for telling these lies. As i said in the beginning, "you breathe in, but can't brethe out" means he keeps it all in...but doesn't let them know.

um this song is different trying to figure this song out i want to say that the person just makes problems for their own self but its time to let it all out and death comes

"You breath in but can't breath out" - The person's inhaling the drug but cant get it out of him/her, he/she can't breathe it out.

• The drug's taking control of the person making him/her talk slow, it's taking control of him/her and is killing him/her.

this song at first was a little difficult to describe but after a couple of times i listened to it i think it means that people taking drugs start choking gently and they start to think about death and in the end after they start tripin they can breath again.
