Story of my fcking life, in regards to the girl.

to me, this song is definitely about trying to be in a relationship and struggling with his bipolar disorder. this part especially sticks out for me, it represents the manic state bipolar people go through: "I could sleep well, if only I tried But I stay up and dream of a bride to be."

and then this part represents the depressive state: "I am stuck on your bedroom floor With the thought that I may not be As great as those who came before."

talking to his therapist about the girl he loves/wants to be with: "There's a man assigned to me And he checks on my stability. We discuss you every week. Then I rinse and rinse, repeat."

this part is about trying to prove that he can manage the disorder better and getting over the mania: "But maybe, I can show you, baby! Maybe, I can relax for good, whoa, baby! I can show you... maybe... baby."

people with bipolar disorder are sometimes known to spend massive amounts of money when they're manic, so the "i can't afford your love" part also relates to it in a literal and metaphorical sense.

this song is really close to me. i dated a guy with bipolar disorder for two years, and it can be a huge struggle for both people in the relationship.

its a girl he cant shake loose no matter how much he wants too. He find himself constantly talking about her, and its always the same thing.

I've looked around and i think the line is rinse and rinse repeat and it really sounds like that. i can understand it too, rinsing would be him crying to "rinse" the girl out of his life with tears. Some great lyrics here. Or maybe he just likes shampoo.

I can't believe there's only 4 posts onthis song. I actually just found this song thru Pandora but it's a real great song. I love how he sings. I may have to check into more Say Anything songs.

I think this song is about a girl whom he was really in love with for a long time. He had ot let her go, but didn't want to... and is havin problems completely letting go. yeah.. good song though.

i think the song is about a girl getting married to someone else (hence the bride to be part) and it just kills him that the girl he wants or maybe just thinks he wants is getting married. it drives him kind of crazy, so crazy that he needs a psychiatrist and mental help.
