March of The Dead Lyrics

You tell yourself that you're not the same
As you stand in line, your time will all be wasted
Scum-littered earth, blind lead the dead
Blood-thirsty, selfish clones who reject
The colorful, the brightest skies

So take these words for what they are
(Lights out! Lights out!)
That's what you say, what you say
So take these words for what they are
(Lights out! Lights out!)
That's what you say, what you say, yeah!

Denied the chance to think for yourself
You inherent lies, your time had all been wasted
Follow tradition to quench your thirst
And swallow vomit from excess dirts
So shun the queer and praise the skies

So take these words for what they are
(Lights out! Lights out!)
That's what you say, what you say
So take these words for what they are
(Lights out! Lights out!)
That's what you say, what you say, yeah!

You're already dead! You're already dead!
You're already dead! You're already dead!

So now you stand in line
Embrace your leaders
Stand in line
And feast on their words
Stand in line
Embrace your leaders
Stand in line
Feast on their words
Refuse to learn
And sheltered on tradition
Are you gonna take your turn
Or just stand in line?

(Lights out! Lights out!)
So take these words for what they are
(Lights out! Lights out!)
That's what you say, what you say
(Lights out! Lights out!)
So take these words for what they are
(Lights out! Lights out!)
That's what you say, what you say, yeah!

Your denial will lead you single-file into the ground
You're already dead!(x4)
You're dead!!

Well, basically it think it's about people not thinking for them selves at all, and following what ever people, their "leaders" or perhaps government or just people they look up to, tell them to do and not having an open mind to anything else.

I may be wrong on this, I don't own the CD so I dont have the lyrics book, but where it says "And sheltered on tradition", it sounds like "choke on their tradition". Maybe it's just me.

"So shun the queer and praise the skies" this is one of my favorite lines of all time. It says that you shouldn't be with anything different and look down upon it or them ("shun the queer") and you should always do what is "told" of you and go with what everyone else is doing, ie. Heaven ("praise the skies")

I think you guys all have it wrong. This song is about organized religion. Also, some of the lyrics on this page are incorrect. I know my interpretation is probably a little offensive to some, but there is no need to attack me. This is just my own personal interpretation of a song. I'm not telling anybody what to believe or condemning anybody's religion.

"Deny the chance to think for yourself You inherit lies, your time has all been wasted" I take this to indicate, you are told to believe from the time you are a young child. You are never given the choice to decided for yourself. Most people believe their religion simply because it is how they were raised.

"Follow tradition to quench your thirst" Tradition could mean any religious tradition like church, etc. Quenching your thirst for answers, or a reason for life.

"And swallow vomit from ancestors" This could mean scripture or the bible possibly, the ancestors write a lot of ugly passages in the bible, their followers simply swallow them.

"So shun the queer and praise the skies" You simply reject anything that goes against what you believe, and praise the sky is a very obvious reference to god or heaven.

"So take these words for what they are (Lights out! Lights out!) That's what you say, what you say"

The chorus seems to be saying, just take these words as truth, lights out indicates no thought process, just blind belief.

The song goes on to say: "Embrace your leaders Stand in line Feast on their words Refuse to learn And choke on dead traditions"

Once you see the religious references in the chorus and opening verses, you can see how people just embrace their religious leaders, eat up their words and refuse to think outside the box, or evolve their thinking in any way, following ancient traditions.

"You're already dead!" Could mean, you are not living life. You are already dead.
