Let me take you on, we'll get high just a little
Try to surface the calm, we don't come inside

Has it brought you closer to this?
Yeah, has it brought you closer to this?
And is it coming alive?
Try to believe it
Was the question a point?
I don't want your love
Has it brought you closer to this?
Yeah, has it brought you closer to this?

We've got eyes that leave us in places we don't see
We've got eyes that leave us in places we don't see

Let me take you on, we'll get high just a little
It kinda takes the joy away, we don't come at all

Let me take you on we'll get high just a little Try to surface the calm We don't come inside

Has it brought you closer to this, and has it brought you closer to this.

And is it coming alive, try to believe it (too tired to believe it?) Was the question a point, i don't want your love. Has it brought you closer to this, and has it brought you closer to this.

We've got eyes that leave us in places we don't see. We've got eyes that leave us in places we don't see.

Let me take you on, we'll get high just a little. Come take some fun, we don't come at all.

as to what the song is about, it's really hard to say. i was also wondering if the line could be "we've got eyes that LEAD us" but it does sound like leave.

Oh ya the breathing during the "has it brought you closer to this" gives it such a higher dynamic of hotness as you kno, in connection to the title:)

I've had the (clears throat) priveledge of listening to about 4 of their songs. I've concluded that such was a far greater investment of time than needed to come to the conclusion that they all need to cut their prozac's in 1/8ths.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
