incredible song-writing. i don't quite understand it, though. i like the fire analogies.
might be about two people ("fire" & "embers"), who have both persued many people. they enter relationships just to use the other person. the people they persue have wasted their love on that person - they are left regretful and "burnt". "fire" & "embers" fake feelings of care and love. relationships are like games to them. they use the same method & rules on every conquest - the same speeches, the same gestures, etc. once they have what they want, they simply 'drop' them & move onto the next person. they categorise others: they are either new, old, or discarded. all they have is choice - their pick of the next person to burn.
... i don't think that's right, but it's at least something for this song.
This song is how I feel about my ex-girlfriend. It reflects how angry I am that she lied to me when I cared about her, but ultimately I have to choose to forget about it because being hurt doesn't get me anywhere and she's not worth it.

I don't know why this was left out of the lyrics, or whether my version of remorse is different, but it's 15:38 long. this is kind of like a hidden track which starts at 10:30 or 10:31. I don't know what's up, but very, very beautiful.
