the "we're animals" part of the song is the most grooviest thing i've heard, seen, or eaten!

I totally agree with all of the above.
I see this song as the 'Bunnies' of themechanicalhand. It's theme seems to be almost the same yet this one has more positive tones compared to bunnies.
Both are songs that compare us to weak animals with no control over ourselves. This one at least has hope of escaping that while bunnies just had us being splattered by hammers haha

Im thinking what they mean is so many people these days commit themselves to a group of some kind because they cannot think for themselves. How they complain about problems but they lack the intelligence to actually do anything about them. Something along the lines of that. More metaphors to describe the painful truth of what we really are.
