Savin' Me Lyrics

Prison gates won’t open up for me
On these hands and knees I’m crawlin’
Oh, I reach for you
Well I’m terrified of these four walls
These iron bars can’t hold my soul in
All I need is you
Come please I’m callin’
And oh I scream for you
Hurry I’m fallin’

Show me what it’s like
To be the last one standing
And teach me wrong from right
And I’ll show you what I can be
Say it for me
Say it to me
And I’ll leave this life behind me
Say it if it’s worth saving me

Heaven’s gates won’t open up for me
With these broken wings I’m fallin’
And all I see is you
These city walls ain’t got no love for me
I’m on the ledge of the eighteenth story
And oh I scream for you
Come please I’m callin’
And all I need from you
Hurry I’m fallin’

Show me what it’s like
To be the last one standing
And teach me wrong from right
And I’ll show you what I can be
Say it for me
Say it to me
And I’ll leave this life behind me
Say it if it’s worth saving me

Hurry I’m fallin’

Well from what i can tell i think its about a guy who is in love with someone but she doesn't love him ... or sumthing to do with it being one sided.

The lines "And I’ll show you what I can be" Means he wants to show her what he can be as a boyfriend

"Say it for me Say it to me"

He wants her to tell him she loves him. And he won't jump if she says it and gives him a chance ... It could be about second chances too

agree man. i love this song. its mesmerising.

Am I the only one who sees a religious theme in this song? I mean "show me what it's like to be the last one standing, show me wrong from right.... and i'll leave this life behind... hurry i'm falling." early on in the song he says he's on his hands and knees. I think it's his prayer to God to send him a message that will save him and make him quit this lifestyle.

no you're not the only one... I saw the same thing on it too... This guy saw (on the vid) he was about to died and someone else saved him (This is how God saves us from spiritual else by using someone who shares the Gospel to us, who also was saved). Now since this guy was saved, he gets to know "salvation" little by little so now is his chance to save someone (sharing the gospel to those who were in the same danger as him). The song pretty much talks about someone who is struggle with something thats...

If you watch the video of that song, you see a man who is about to cross a road. But he is rescued by another person from being driven over - since he didn't mind the traffic. As he realizes that he had almost died he sits down on a bench and becomes aware of the fact that life can end every moment.

That's why I think the song is not about a love with a woman but it's a cry to GOD to save him. He feels captive in his own life (I'm terrified of these four walls) and lonely in this world (These city walls ain’t got no love for me) but he wants to break out of his old life as he realizes that life can end immediately - and he screams for God (And oh I scream for you) and beseeches him to help him (Come please I’m callin’).

He recognizes that he is not good enough te be saved (Heaven's gates won't open up for me), but he asks God to help him to live a good life (teach me wrong from right), and he promises God: "I'll show you what I can be" and also "I'll leave this life behind me".

My Interpretation

@cseilerde i've been recently been diagnosed with skin cancer. This reaction summaries how i'm feeling lately. Although my doctor told me i had an 95 -98% of survival.

It made me realise that i'm only a human like everybody else. "Say it if it's worth saving me"

in the song the guy is trapt and all over-come in is own emotions because he's in love with a girl and he feels he's nothing without her..so he's hoping she'll come back before it's to late and his anxiety drives him over the edge and he ends up giving up!

...at least that's what i got out of it...

"Prison gates wont open up for me On these hands and knees Im crawlin Oh, I reach for you"

Talking about reaching for God.

"Well Im terrified of these four walls These iron bars cant hold my soul in All I need is you Come please Im callin And oh I scream for you Hurry Im fallin"

Asking for God to make a change in his life. The iron bars could be a metaphor for sin or drug addiction that is afflicting his life.

"Show me what its like To be the last one standing And teach me wrong from right And Ill show you what I can be Say it for me Say it to me And Ill leave this life behind me Say it if its worth saving me"

Admitting sin and wanting repentance, saying that he can lead a better life.

"Heavens gates wont open up for me With these broken wings Im fallin And all I see is you These city walls aint got no love for me Im on the ledge of the eighteenth story And oh I scream for you Come please Im callin And all I need from you Hurry Im fallin"

Admitting sin and and "all I see is you", showing the path that is wanted is a path contrary to his current or previous life. "Im on the ledge of the eighteenth story And oh I scream for you" Pleading with God that his life of sin is killing him, possibly literally. Maybe a struggle with drugs.

"Show me what its like To be the last one standing And teach me wrong from right And Ill show you what I can be Say it for me Say it to me And Ill leave this life behind me Say it if its worth saving me

Hurry Im fallin"

"Say it if its worth saving me" - Asking for a response from God. Either literally through a change in his life that changes his affliction, or for God to come into his life and change his heart from the inside out.

  • from a Christian perspective, but that is how I take this song. Take care and God Bless.

tottally agree with you...when i first heard the song and saw the vid, i took it from a christian perspective also...

Pretty much the same as everyone else, sounds like the guy is in love with her, and he's weak without her, but if she says yes to him (Say it for me, say it to me) then he'll be strong (Show me what it’s like, to be the last one standing). He wants to commit suicide (I'm on the ledge of the eighteenth storey) but he won't if she comes to him (Oh, I scream for you, come please, I'm callin'). Also I think he might be saying he needs her to be happy (and calm?) - (Well I’m terrified of these four walls, these iron bars can’t hold my soul in, all I need is you)

I love this song as well. I am a new Nickelback fan. I recently saved this video to my hard drive and my productivity at work has definitely gone down because of it. I'm not going to try and analyze the meaning of the song because I don't have enough time to write the paragraphs that I believe it would take to capture it's meaning. Plus I think the video is cooler and I'm not exactly sure that the meaning of the video and the meaning of the song go exactly hand in hand. I think the video "Savin Me" is about being saved from the meaningless boring day to day existence that the vast majority of us live in. Is it a coincidence that both people who are narrowly saved appear to be seemingly busy maybe important business people. Immediately after being saved however, they seem to see life and more importantly the people around them in a different light. Now the cell phone and the laptop are not as important as your mom or dad sitting across from of you at the family dinner whose life counter may be down to 3 minutes and 23 seconds.
To me this video is about being saved from one existence or level of consciousness and awakened to another where the people in your life / on the planet are more important than anything else.

i'm not too much on religion but I think this might have a lot to do with god...., or a parent, or girlfriend, or even a friend.

I think it's about someone going down the wrong path in life and can't bring himself out of it alone. i.e. I've done this so I might go to prison, or hell (Heaven’s gates won’t open up for me, With these broken wings I’m fallin’). suicied might be the way out... or

I think he/she wants to be loved or at least feel that he is loved. And does things hoping someone will help.

this song hits hard.

love it.

out.

I like the idea that it could be used in reference to someone trying to find god- but in all reality I think this is more about how someone can feel so lost that all they need is just a tiny crack to penetrate the darkness of their lives to offer them hope.

I was this way until just recently after suffering a an abusive childhood, drug issues and multiple broken homes I simply didn't feel as though i was capable fo being saved in any way shape or form- after all, who'd want to try?

As for the heavens...

hey guys, you must see the video. I've just seen it and it was absolutely fantastic. It's so meaningful and matches the song really well. I felt like i was watching some sort of a blockbuster movie!

Cover art for Savin' Me lyrics by Nickelback

First part means he's questioning his existence(locked inside his head). second part(chorus), he wants God to show him what's important in life and he will do it, but he needs an answer soon or he will kill himself. Then the third part means he has still not gotten an answer of what his purpose is here(say it, tell me the point of our existence) and is going to end his life if he does not find out the truth. You know when something sets u free u feel like you have wings, well his wings are broken and he is not yet free to fly high.

As for the video, i think it's about the battle between predeterminism and free will. are we in control or is something controlling us.
