Side of a Bullet Lyrics

Uncle Sam taught him to shoot
Maybe a little too well
Finger on the trigger, loaded bullet
He hit the stage so full of rage
And let the whole world know it
Six feet away, they heard him say
“Oh God, don’t let him pull it”

Please God, don’t let him pull it
How could you put us through it?
His brother watched you do it

How could you take his life away?
How could you be so full of hate?
And when I heard you let him die
And made the world all wonder why
I sat at home and on my own,
I cried alone

And scratched your name
On the side of a bullet

And in the wake of his mistake
So many lives are broken
Gone forever from a loaded bullet
And no excuse that you could use
Could pull somebody through it
And to this day so many say
“God why’d you let him do it?”

How could you let him do it?
How could you put us through it?
His brother watched him do it

How could you take his life away?
How could you be so full of hate?
And when I heard you let him die
And made the world
all wonder why
I sat at home and cried alone
and on my own
I scratched your name
On the side of a bullet

On the side of a bullet
On the side of a bullet

I actually had no idea...I thought it was about the war and how people are dying and it's just like what the hell were you thinking...that person has family too.

It's about Dimebag Darrel, of Pantera and Damageplan, who got shot on stage by a "fan."

He hit the stage so full of rage

His brother watched you do it

Those 2 lines give it away to me. Cause of the stage refference, and Vinnie was also shot, but survived.

Damn thats awesome, I didn't realise that. I love Pantera! R.I.P Dime!

Dimebag did the solo on this song, not quite sure how NB got a hold of it lol but at least he is still rocking from the grave.

This song i think is obviously about Him, as "Sunny Day Believer" said those two lines totally give it away

I think what gives away the Dimebag meaning is that Chad Krogor (spellings wrong I know) said it was.

Dimebag recorded some solos before he died. When Nickelback finished recording the song they wanted to do something special for so they asked Vinnie to re-do the drumming, but he said the drumming was good enough. So then either Vinnie or Dimebags girlfriend (I cant remember) gave over some Dimbag solos, Nickelback edited them in, the rest is history.

I saw Nickelback in concert on Jan. 31st. This song totally rocked..just a load of energy in this song, pyro was amazing to go with it. Before the song ended they had a huuuge Cemetary Gates drum solo..it totally added meaning to the song..definately rocked, one of the best songs of the night.

They at the concert let the audience know it was about dimebag darrell... they were good friends with him cause chad said "A little over a year ago a good friend of ours was taken from us..." adn then they played a video of him and that is like... so great... but the way they got to solo was from recordings of his that they bought the publishing rights to....

Yeah, this song is about Dimebag Darrell. He was murdered on stage when he was playing for all the fans. Vinnie wasn't shot, though. But there were other 3 killed that night (not including the murdered, who got shot, too) , and another 2 injured.

Dime and Chad were good friends, very close. And it's just obvious that Chad was devastated when he got the news. So he wrote this song. The solo is Dime's like someone else already said, Nickeback asked for it and also asked Vinnie Paul to re-do the drumming but he turned it down, said the drumming was alright.

Here's Chad's own words about Dimebag: "The last time I saw Dime, we were on tour in Dallas. He jumped up on our bus and he'd brought me this little tiny miniature guitar. It almost looked like a ukulele. He goes, 'I brought you something.' And I hate when someone gives me a present and I don't have something to give them back. So, that night, we were both getting pretty sloppy, and I go in the back and I grab my favorite leather jacket. I come out and give it to him and he throws it on. I'm like, 'There you go. What do you think?' We were both ecstatic, and I gave him a big old hug. We jumped back into his Escalade, and we're sitting there, talking for a bit. We were passing this bottle of Jack Daniel's back and forth. ... I tell him I love him and to be careful, and he tells me he loves me and to be careful. I gave him a big old hug and went back to my bus. ... That was the last time I saw him, and that's what I'll always remember when I think of Dime. I miss him a lot."

Yea, I appreciate Nickelback making an effort to try to live up to a higher level of heaviness when making this song(for the sake of dimebag), but it turned out great in the end.
