This song just shows how brilliant a song writer Scooter Ward is.

The song is entirely metaphorical.

Imagine someone falling down in a wave and getting dragged away into the ocean. Or someone slipping away from your life and you remain helpless to keep them.

The first verse explains that he would give anything to oversee the regrets in the relationship, and get the girl back.

It's a song about losing someone you love and being helpless to stop it happening, and how if given a second chance he would do things over again.

I myself made a huge mistake in splitting up with my partner, and I never thought she's forgive me when I wanted her back, so I left it. I heard this song and it spoke to me so well. We're back together now, so this song is very close to my heart.

means. this is the saddest song ever. but its also my favorite. it means the world to me.

"OCEAN" refers to waves come and go and none of them are the same...there is no person in the world that can be the same as someone else. Once the waves crash down that's it! Once it's over it's over!

Ever heard the phrase "theres plenty more fish in the sea"?

I like to think he means his "fish" has slipped back into the ocean.
