Seein' Diamonds Lyrics
I remember seein' diamonds, whatever happened to them? You smashed em all when you flew away, just for everything. You let it go so dark and bitter you never believed its the same.
But it is all the same
ohhh time has rearranged
But it is all the same
just, time has rearranged
I remember early morning
in the car on the side of the road
you said you had something to say
I crawled out with my head spinning
I covered my ears too late
everything felt dead to me
But I am nothing
but time is rearranged
But I am nothing
just time has rearranged
Just returning felt like morning, but I couldn't stay awake, I was holding back from again.
Just returning felt like morning, but I couldn't stay awake, I was holding back from again.
But I am nothing
ohh time has rearranged
But I am nothing
Just Change
But it is all the same
ohhh time has rearranged
But it is all the same
just, time has rearranged
in the car on the side of the road
you said you had something to say
I crawled out with my head spinning
I covered my ears too late
everything felt dead to me
but time is rearranged
But I am nothing
just time has rearranged
Just returning felt like morning, but I couldn't stay awake, I was holding back from again.
ohh time has rearranged
But I am nothing
Just Change

Well, the badassery of this song's already been well established. The guitar parts alone pretty much reaffirm how gorgeous it sounds. But as for the lyrics, it seems to me like it's about a guy finding out something that just blindsides him (she's dumping him? she cheated?) from his girlfriend/what have you. Especially in the second verse:
"I remember early morning in the car on the side of the road you said you had something to say"
The setup...
"I crawled out with my head spinning I covered my ears too late everything felt dead to me"
And the aftermath. Both barrels, right between the eyes. Whatever it was, it HURT.
From the Till the Wheels Fall Off booklet.
I remember seein' diamonds. Whatever happened to them? D'ya smash them all when you flew away? Your jets burned everything, and laid a coat so dark and bitter you'd never believe it's the same little world. But it is the same. All changed and rearranged, but it is the same. Just changed. Rearranged. I remember early morning, in the car by the side of the road, you said you had something to say. I crawled out with my head spinning. I covered my ears too late. Everything felt dead in me. But I am the same. All changed and rearranged, but I am the same. Just changed. Rearranged. Just returning felt like murder, but I could not stay away. I was holding back from getting on. But I am the same. All changed and rearranged, but I am the same. Just changed.
this might not be exactly right
good effort though. this song is beautiful.
I've never heard any other songs from this band, but when I came across it randomly on my Media Player (not knowing the title), I thought to myself: "This is a beautiful song, the opening guitar reminds me of the sun reflecting into the ocean, and it looks like diamonds sparkling..." I then looked at the title and that was fuckin' scary!
the guitars soar on this one. it blows my mind how 4 simple chords can produce visuals and feelings so clearly. i love this band for that.
blacktop cadence does that very well too.
