Everything Flows Lyrics

we get older every year
but you don't change
or i don't notice you're changing
i think about it every day
but only for a little while
and then i feel it

i'll never know which way to flow
set a course that i don't know
i'll never know which way to flow
set a course that i don't know

the wind's blowing in my face
lately find it hard to keep the pace
and i'm looking for a place to go
but only for a little while
and then the feeling

i'll never know which way to flow
set a course that i don't know
i'll never know which way to flow
set a course that i don't know

Can't believe I'm the first to comment on this gloriously grungy song. The chorus is just great. It seems to be about life's changes and uncertainties and a sense of being rudderless through it all.

i agree; great song. one of my favorites of theirs.

i've always liked to think he's singing:

i'll never know which way to go said a force that i don't know i'll never know which way to go set a course that i don't know

A fantastic song from the band.

My take on it is that the narrator is full of self-doubt about their life and current relationship. They want a fresh start and want renewal of confidence and direction.

I've always loved this song. I recently started reading Everything Flows by Vassily Grossman, a book about life in Soviet Russia. Now I'm wondering if I the lyrics could be about that... Probably just a coincidence

A brilliant song. One of the very best. About a topic of great interest to me. The flow. Taoism. The idea that we are fully connected to the universe and that we are pretty much subject to the power of its flow. It's hard to describe in words..... 'and then the feeling'!
