After The Afterlife Lyrics
So tell me about your mom
And how she cuts her hair
Does she like it short
Does she grow it out
Like seaweed
Because you are not awake
You are not awake
You're still asleep with the seaweed kelp
So tell me about your dad
And how he gets you high
Do you like him stoned out, yeah
Do you like him dried out like seaweed
Because you are not awake
You are not awake
You're still asleep with the seaweed kelp
I am a ghost on fire
White sheets aflame
Where is my heart
After the afterlife
Where it has it gone and stayed
So tell me about yourself
And how you like to dream about the ocean
Does it make you want to believe
In anything at all
Like me
And how she cuts her hair
Does she like it short
Does she grow it out
Like seaweed
You are not awake
You're still asleep with the seaweed kelp
And how he gets you high
Do you like him stoned out, yeah
Do you like him dried out like seaweed
You are not awake
You're still asleep with the seaweed kelp
White sheets aflame
Where is my heart
After the afterlife
Where it has it gone and stayed
And how you like to dream about the ocean
Does it make you want to believe
In anything at all

my favorite song on the album. people should start commenting on his stuff!
this song is more than amazing....and that's all that i have to say about that!
shallowly: this is about somebody who's still living with their parents. and how chad thinks they need to move out. seaweed are the chains of the ocean...they need to free themselves in order to live.
This song seems to be about an individual who's memories of their parents have crippled them in some way. The seaweed is like the shackles of the sea. So as the individual thinks about their parents they feel stuck. However, in the end of the song they seem to be dreaming of freedom of some sort. This is possibly from the shadow of their parents and how chad seems to be their lifeline/escape into the open or away from their parents.
I don't know anyone as nerdy as me so hopefully the internet will contain someone of like-mind. Anyone notice to allusions to Destination: VOID, The Jesus Incident, The Lazarus Effect and The Ascension Factor books by Frank Herbert? The references to kelp, Jesus, water, revenge, the sleeping dreamer, eternal life (in very weird ways). I'm sure there's more I'm not hitting on, but maybe someone could agree or disagree?
Sorry, I should have said the themes run throughout the album
