Boondocks Lyrics
(Chorus:)
I feel no shame
I'm proud of where I came from
I was born and raised in the boondocks
One thing I know
No matter where I go
I keep my heart and soul in the boondocks
And I can feel
That muddy water running through my veins
And I can hear that lullaby of a midnight train
It sings to me and it sounds familiar
(Chorus)
And I can taste
That honeysuckle and it's still so sweet
When it grows wild
On the banks down at old camp creek
Yeah, and it calls to me like a warm wind blowing
(Chorus)
It's where I learned about living
It's where I learned about love
It's where I learned about working hard
And having a little was just enough
It's where I learned about Jesus
And knowing where I stand
You can take it or leave it, this is me
This is who I am
Give me a tin roof
A front porch and a gravel road
And that's home to me
It feels like home to me
(Chorus)
I keep my heart and soul in the boondocks
You get a line, I'll get a pole
We'll go fishing in the crawfish hole
Five-card poker on a Saturday night
Church on Sunday morning
(2x)
You get a line, I'll get a pole
We'll go fishing in the crawfish hole
(Down in the boondocks)
Five-card poker on a Saturday night
Church on Sunday morning
Say a little prayer for me
I feel no shame
I'm proud of where I came from
I was born and raised in the boondocks
One thing I know
No matter where I go
I keep my heart and soul in the boondocks
That muddy water running through my veins

I like this song a lot...it's good to be proud of where you came from. I wish I could say the same about the city I grew up in...I mean I liked being raised in the city I guess, but politically this city needs all the help it can get. So anyway, the song, right on. Keep on rockin.
I LOVE this song! I've grown up in the boondocks and there's nothing like it! Me and my friends really do play poker on saturday nights and go to church on sunday morning

what the heck are boondocks though???
the boondocks just mean out in the middle of no where. the country, the hills, so on and so forth...
Though I'm not from America I recognize the feeling in this song. I'm out on my own now and I learn more and more everyday in this university city, but I also come to appreciate the place where I'm from more and more. "And knowing where I stand" DEFINITELY!
I'm not a big fan of today's country, but this song really appealed to me. I like the fact that has a slightly grittier feeling that most current contemporary country, and more than anything I love the lyrics. I'm proud of where I came from, and I like this song because it vocalized that.
though i dont have a tin roof, i wouldnt trade any of my boondock raisings for any other way. i love the country! nothing like riding your quad, drinking, goin mudding, campin, shooting, and doin all sorts of things out in the woods with your friends.
What is a quad? Quit trolling. Not all is better "just north." Guess the cold war can't always be civil. Tickle me pink, Bertha, I diddett 'gin.. Nuthin' like coon-dog fuck-tard mixed in with edumacation. Giterdun! These kids are from somewhere like New York or something. Damnd-ole yankees do one hell of a job! Great song btw!

I love this song. Not all of it is completely true of me, but I was born and raised in the boondocks, and I love it here! Although, the town I grew up in and currently live in is trying to become more "urbanized", just north of town is really rural once you hit the county line. Ahhh, this song is so reminiscent of my past...I love it!!
I was born in boondocks...where i live we like to mud ride tho..but anyways...this is my favorite song by little big town they are really good!
