Blue Leaves Lyrics
Strength like a stone, a texture you know
And sewn in your children's quilts you made
Can you be meek, lowered and weak
Possibly tired as to see
Her eyes upon you under blue leaves at night
And what will you do with your new kind of sight?
Cluttered asides and marginal lines
Home to the closest jewels you owned
Strength like a stone, a pressure you’ve known
Better than footsteps leading home
And eyes wanting you under blue leaves at night
But you never knew until they sank out of sight
And sewn in your children's quilts you made
Can you be meek, lowered and weak
Possibly tired as to see
And what will you do with your new kind of sight?
Home to the closest jewels you owned
Strength like a stone, a pressure you’ve known
Better than footsteps leading home
But you never knew until they sank out of sight

it's hard to determine such a thing, but this might be the most poignant, beautiful Iron & Wine song ever written.
i really have no idea what this song is about, but it's incredible to listen to. it's obviously about some kind of loss, dealing with family, children and maybe a lover... not sure. i wish this song was easier to find, everybody is missing out that hasn't heard it.
i think it's about missing family. "better than the footsteps leading home" and "you never knew until they sank out of sight" kind of bring it together at the end. where can i get this song by the way???
what album is this on!?!?
it's on his "unreleased session" that hasn't (officially) been...released. unless it has, and i'm wrong.
I thik it's about this girl's eyes that are so beautiful to you but you never knew until they sank out of sight...he describes her eyes as the closest jewels you owned and better than footsteps leading home.
It's so fucking beautiful I can't even take take it sometimes
It sounds to me like this this meek shy girl is in love with him, and he doesn't know it until she 'slinks' out of sight. She was waiting under moonlight of blue leaves (leaves often look blue in very lumiscent moonlight), watching him? and he just never noticed until she was gone. Maybe they were watching each other and didn't have a clue.
