The Palestinians Are Not The Same Thing As The Rebel Alliance, Jackass Lyrics
You're so leftist.
You're so for peace.
You hate the death penalty, but love it in the middle east.
Don't know the facts,
Just catch phrase words.
No different than the nazi boneheads, the other side got to you first.
Critical thinking?
No thanks, not at all.
Admit it. You just like posters of men with machine guns on your wall.
Make you feel good?
Make you feel right?
Simplified complexity, it's easy to cheer when it's black and white.
Impressed with your badass.
I am impressed with your defiance.
Now you do know the Palestinians are not the same thing as the Rebel Alliance?
Impressed with your badass.
I am impressed with your defiance.
Now you do know the Palestinians are not the same thing as the Rebel Alliance?
Say stupid things...
(The U.S. is the only terrorist nation.)
HA HA HAHAHA... Nice education!
Add inane, hip arguments when it comes to your turn,
all the while, weakening and invalidating legit concerns.

Supposed to be cynical!

The Palestinians may not be the Rebel alliance but Israel is absolutely the Empire.
It's not a hateful song. Atom, just like anybody, has a right to voice their opinion, and people have a right to hear both sides of any argument.
Besides, after thinking more, I don't even think it's a prowar song. It seems to be about naive people who are "so for peace" in US issues but believe in war everywhere else. It certainly would make lines like "You have the death penalty but love it in the middle east" and "Admit it: You just like posters of men with machine guns on your wall" make sense. I mean, even the title of the song suggests that it's about people who get all their info from totally unrelated movies or wherever else.
Have you guys even READ what the freakin album liner notes say? Apparently not.
Atom says himself the song is about how a lot of left-leaning people jump so quickly to defend Palestinians, regardless of what they do, which makes them no better than those on the right who jump so quickly to defend Israel, regardless of what they do.
Atom himself is far from prowar, you dolt.
I love this song. I don't feel it encourages leftist or...rightist...philosophies one way or the other, it just encourages, as it says, critical thinking.
"You hate the death penalty but love it in the middle east" is the perfect example of this type of mentality. Americans who like to consider themselves progressive and are anti-war will usually try to stick up for every wretched theocracy in the world (while claiming to hate religion) because "America is the only terrorist nation" etc. People come down on America, and sure it has its flaws, but just because we're against a country for disputable reasons doesn't mean that the country are a bunch of freedom fighting saints (they're not the same thing as the rebel alliance).
I mean, say what you want about whether we should be there or not, most nations in the middle east are run by disgusting men with a disgusting obsession with their religion and uphold policies that are absolute abominations to humanity and egalitarianism in general. I don't believe in moral relativity, I believe countries are wrong to discriminate or be wicked to their people in all cases, which is why I find it so funny when people mistake being anti-war with being pro-middle-east and anti-america. That sort of hypocritical and uninformed attitude is what this song pokes fun at above all
"You hate the death penalty but love it in the middle east"? This sounds like some stupid prowar song. Oh yeah! Dropping bombs on innocent people isn't a form of the "death penalty". I'd much rather hear this guy do instrumental music than add hateful lyrics like this to his songs.
The point of the song is that a lot of people will jump on the Palestinian's side without actually thinking about the issue(Or just because J. Random Blogger posts in their favor - "Add inane, hip arguments when it comes to your turn") just because "they're the little guys standing up for themselves," even though they use tactics like suicide bombings in heavily populated areas.
I guess the situation now is more hostile than it may have been three years ago, but the way it seems to me, from the reading I've odne on the subject, is that you can't: A) Say that the palestinian people are the ones who are terrorists, it is an organization made up of people who are Palestinians who are causing said attacks and absolutely do not represent the views and beliefs of the palestinian people, also, polls have shown that the majority of Palestinians are in favour of peace. B) Say that Jews/Isrealites are the ones causing the problems for the Palestinians. It is a group of Isrealites (aka, the Isreali government) that has committed the atrocities against the Palestinian people, adding fuel to the flames of pissed-offedness os the Palestinians and Hamas.
I think that while this song is good in a way of saying that one has to look at the whole picture, I think that the writer, Atom (who I am a very big fan of) needs to also look at the big picture HIMSELF, as it seems he is not either, and is letting his cultural heritage blur his vision of the truth.
The truth: The Isreali government are assholes who need to stfu and apologize and stop being such dickwads to the palestinians. The Isreali people need to see behind the propaganda and hatred of the Isreali government, embrace the Palestianians as a similar but different culture, and live in their land peacefully together. The Hamas need to learn that killing innocent Isrealis isn't the answer, and that peaceful union between the two cultures is the only proper option The Palestinians need to look behind the propaganda of the Hamas, and see the Isreali people as cultural siblings (or cousins), and agree to live together in peace.
The fact that Atom is a Jew has nothing to do with the writing of this song. It's not an anti-Palestinian song as much as it is a "this issue is not as simple as you're making it" song. notaliveyet, you completely missed the point. Actually, you're probably exactly what he was writing about, someone who jumps to conclusions based on inaccurate information, i.e. all Jews hate Palestinians.
Anyone mentioned atom is a jew? That's probably the biggest motivation behind this song, I mean, of course palestianians are evil to him, he's a jew.
What a retarded song. I hate religious people.
hahahaha i still love this song so much. It reminds me of a lot of my friends. I play it for them and they instantly get offended.
