I love this song, its great. The meaning is pretty clear. His girl couldnt take being alone while he was on the road, he obviously felt different, but he seems to understand.

I like this song. I don't think it has some deep meaning, it's sort of a good song to just sing (even if you don't have a very good voice like me)...Although I'm not sure it's so literal as Musical_Jenny suggests, being out on the road....although it could be, I don't know. I like it anyway.
