A moment in time
Despair and fear
Nothings ahead
You are right here
Near is the pain
Tragedy changing you dear

Catastrophe
Everythings gone
Nothing today
Was agreed upon
You had no choice
As you watched the curtains be drawn

Hands in the air
Prayers and hymns
Everyone's here
It's time to begin
All that was there
And what might have been
Is no longer here
It's time to begin
Yearning

The hour is late
It's almost dawn
Without an end
We can't go on
As dark as it seems
Soon you will see the day sun

Purchase the dream
There is the road
Permanent sleep
Nice dreams will come
Try to have faith
To carry you on as you run

Hands in the air
Prayers and hymns
Everyone's here
It's time to begin
All that was there
And what might have been
Is no longer here
It's time to begin
Yearning
Yearning
Yearning
And hurting
Yearning

Waiting for where it will take you
Taking all your time
Waiting for where it will take you
Taking all your time
Yearning

Hands in the air
Prayers and hymns
Everyone's here
It's time to begin
All that was there
And what might have been
Is no longer here
It's time to begin
Yearning
Yearning
Yearning
Yearning

ok ok ok you did a lame job of getting to the roots of this song, you did a good job at saying "yeah the trews are great"

AWESOME WELL DONE I COULD NOT HAVE DONE THAT.

yearning is about wanting something, more than someone, it could be about wanting someone in a ceratin situation, like when everyone is against you but you can feel and practically see what you want, and it is about being alone and secluded

"try to have faith to carry you on as you run" it is about a journey of somekind.

sorry miss kate, i didn't mean to offend.

    Song Meaning

    This song is about death.

The first verse tells us that the cause of death was some sort of catastrophe - like the tsunami.

The second verse is about the subject of the song being on death's door and thinking about what will come in the afterlife.

The choruses are about the funeral and the people that are left behind. The "yearning" refers to those that are left behind missing their deceased loved one and dealing with the loss.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
