feel like he's totally talkin to john lennon in this song. which makes the story all that more poigniant. and one of the reasons why i like this album alot.
Am I the only one that takes the "Come Home Brother" lyric very literally? I mean to me it just seems to be aimed at his brother Michael (although I wouldn't know why).
Mind you, Sir Paul McCartney has always stated that a lot of his songs aren't aimed at anybody in particular. For me this song is also quite similar to "She's Leaving Home".
I think this song is possibly about John Lennon and I was hoping to come here and find loads of speculation. Unfortunately I didn't. It's okay. I love this song. I'm just gonna say I think it's about John Lennon and the Beatles because I do.
Maybe it's aimed toward himself. After all, with this album Paul hit a new peak, it's like he's finally back on form after Linda's death and all that stuff.

I always thought this song was directed at british prime minister Tony Blair. I think Paul, like a lot of Brits, felt that Tony Blair was pressured into military action by President Bush and the U.S. I think this song is to him, telling him that it is okay to admit a mistake, try to correct it and move on.
Paul also called out another british prime minister in the past. He called out prime minister Edwin Heath in the bridge of George Harrison's "Taxman" when he sang "Ah ha Mr. Heath". John originally wrote the bridge which was "Anybody got a bit of money" but it was later changed to "Ah ha, Mr. Wilson, Ah ha Mr, Heath" on the final cut.
