i feel like this is about someone that has issues and has a hard time getting close to people. or once they do get close they freak out and sabatoge it and ruin it because of fear that the OTHER person will hurt them so they do it to avoid a bigger pain... does that make sense?

This was the first ladytron song I ever heard, I'm note even sure where I came across it (maybe while i was in liverpool?) It's one of my favorite songs. Anyway - heres my take... it's pretty literal... I take it as a person who is self-destructive and ruins things, almost on purpose, but is not necessarily aware of it. The singer sees this destructive nature, but is unable to distance themself b/c of caring about the person (or maybe being self-destructive as well).

(You are ruining this relationship between us b/c of your fear. Push me away, but if you only looked at the past, you could see that I have been here for you. If you weren't in such a rush to leave, you might be able to see the value of the relationship).

I agree with RitaLMNOP. My take is that the person is afraid of getting hurt, so he sabotages relationships as soon as he senses he's getting too close to someone. "Anything that may desert you / So it cannot hurt you". He closes himself off from the other person and his own feelings, and he doesn't realize how much his actions affect the person he's rejecting. He ends up devastating the people who care about him. It seems like the singer might be in love with this person and wants to pursue the relationship despite knowing how he reacts to intimacy, maybe even thinking that there's a chance she could be the one to save him from himself.

IITS TALKING ABOUT SOMEONE WHO IS ALWAYS HURTING/DISTANCING ANYONE THAT GETS NEAR THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE AFRAID OF BEING HURT BY THEM (maybe becuase they have been hurt in the past) AND THE SINGER IS SAYING ''DESTROY ME, THIS WAY'', BECAUSE THAT PERSON IS DISTANCEING THEMSELVES FROM THEM JUST THEM LIKE ANYONE ELSE. basically it could be the situation that the lady is just getting close in a serious relationship with someone and becuase its getting too close/serious/personal the person is ''destroyin'' them (/dumping) becuase they are afraid of getting hurt again.

Today, I found out that my almost-boyfriend got himself a girlfriend. This is what I feel, actually.

"Once you touch do not feel Do not know what you steal Destroy everything you touch today Please destroy me this way"

And well... It hurts.

I think this song is someone sarcastically telling someone that they are ruining everything in their life and they don't know exactly how badly they are doing it. "Anything that may delay you / Might just save you" is them saying that they need outside intervention. "Destroy me this way" is saying that if you're going to ruin everything else, you might as well destroy what you have with me.

as much as i love this song, i still am having a hard time figuring out what it means. I think maybe a metaphorical assassin also, like a really bad boyfriend you cant leave ... or somthing ...

I agree with the above. And it sounds like the person speaking wants them to hurt them anyway because they are nothing without them.

Sounds like some sort of a modern-era King Midas, actually.
