The Wicked End Lyrics
Man's coming more corrupt now, godless, wicked, and cruel
The soulless man stood silenced, Mary's "word" rang so true
Chastisement worse than the flood, spread the word, its all through
Don't kill the messenger girl
As if we haven't swam enough tin this life of misery
Voice your prophecy, shed us some light
Feel sorrow for mankind's chance to survive
Swallowed lies and swam in your own tears
A stab in the dark and it wounded our will
We won't be here tomorrow, hold on to me for one last time
We've grown into numbers six hundred sixty six
War breaks, a sign of the end, eternally expelled
Look to the sky for knowledge, the stars align tonight
Eclipse and heaven shall fall
Now I know I've seen it all in my life of misery
Dust the apple off, savor each bite
And deep inside you know Adam was right
Lust and power, indulgence, no fear
Left with his sins, how does this end?
We won't be here tomorrow, hold on to me for one last time
As the prophets shed the light on what's to come the crowds did gather
Your time is precious, they explained, no time to worry, messiah's coming
Don't go to sleep tonight, darling, hold me in your arms
These will be our final days and I can't let go
Walls are falling, churches burning, women ravaged, children crying
Flesh is tearing, some still fighting
In this world of misery
Voice your prophecy, shed us some light
Feel sorrow for mankind's chance to survive
Swallowed lies and swam in your own tears
A stab in the dark and it wounded our will
Dust the apple off, savor each bite
And deep inside you know Adam was right
Lust and power, indulgence, no fear
Left with his sins, how does this end?
We won't be here tomorrow, hold on to me for one last time

GREAT song, I am a Christian (laugh it up, guys), but im still amazed by the music, and even the message. It's about the apocalypse and second coming of Christ through the eyes of someone who carries the mark of the beast, so he knows he's going to hell. Sad. Amazing.
@drummerdude0413 Nothing to laugh about being a Christian

Does anybody find it cool how he "[looked] to the sky for knowledge" then the stars alligned, and created an eclipse (which creates darkness)?
Well by far this is my most favorite song on C.O.E i mean the guitar solo is....unexplainable but yeah this song is either talking about the destruction of earth by the flood or the return of "christ" on the day of return but id go with the destrction by flood even tho im not into christianity
yup yup, i agree with the whole end of the world deal. i think the whole adam reference might be condeming humans too. kinda like "adam was the original sin and look what happened to him. he's no here today just like you wont be here tomorrow
Best song on the whole Album its definately a song I will be covering...my guitarists have mastered most of their solo's this one being one of the hardest...the vocals are good cause Shadows is the man! and Sinister Gates is amazing on the bass...
thats johnny christ on the bass, pal. syn plays lead guitar.

This song almost makes me not miss the screaming of STST WTF.....almost
umm.. Avenged Sevenfold is NOT prog. metal! thats absurd! their not plain hard rock, but not necessarily metal either. to me, certain parts of this song sound like a dying relationship but neither one of the partners want to let go. "We won't be here tomorrow, hold on to me for one last time"
"Swallowed lies and swam in our own tears A stab in the dark and it wounded our will"
"Look to the sky for knowledge, the stars align tonight Eclipse and heaven shall fall Now I know I've seen it all in my life of misery"
just stuff like that... also, i am more than happy avenged sevenfold isn't screaming anymore. matt sounds so much better when he doesn't scream. and this is by far my favorite syn solo!
it is talking about the end of the world and return of Jesus through some guy's perspective
this song is amazingly beautiful and sad. i love it.
This whole song is one Biblical reference talking about the end of the world(Book of Revelation) and original sin and baptism. "dust the apple off and savor each bite, deep inside you know adam was righ...Left with his sins, how does this end?" A clening of the sin in our world.
