Tortures Of The Damned Lyrics

So, so cold
So tired...

I hate myself more than I ever let on
I'm burnt out at 22
I have lived too fast
And I loved too much
And I'll die too young
But I chose this cup that I drank from
Knew what I was getting into
But I couldn't let out what I had to keep in
I'm ashamed of myself
And unspeakable sins that I committed and...

I've made mistakes
But I'll find my way
There's no explaination for
The things I've failed at before
They can't hold my hand

It just hurts to be a man
Through the tortures of the damned
Of the damned...

If I only had an axe
I'd sever the ties I've made with the world
Maybe I could be a stranger in a strange place
If I start now maybe I can be saved
If I only had a mask
I'd cover these bleeding eyes
They're bloodshot now, but they'll be black by dawn
If I wake up now I can be pure again

I've made mistakes
But I'll find my way
No explaination for
The things I failed at before
They can't hold my hand

It just hurts to be a man
Though the tortures of the damned

Look at me now I'm on the tracks with my back
Towards the last train leaving town (x4)

I've made mistake
But I'll find my way
There's no explaination for
The things I've failed at before
They can't hold my hand

It just hurts to be a man
Through the tortures of the damned(x2)

"look at me now I'm on the tracks with my back toward the last train leaving town"- he realizes that he has to stay and can't run away from his problems, he could move to anywhere in the world but he would always have the guilt of the things that he has done (or hasn't done) in his past. "They're bloodshot now but they'll be black by dawn if I wake up i can be pure again"-he was drunk all night and he will be hungover in the morning and if only he could wake up and realize that he is not alone and people care about him then he could start over and be the man that he used to be.

You Smile was thinking exactly what i was.

One of the best songs on the new CD.

The other best one is "Blame It On Bad Luck."

to me i think it has to do with alocholism. idk i just see it like this:

"I hate myself more than I ever let on I'm burnt out at 22 I have lived too fast And I loved too much And I'll die too young But I chose this cup that I drank from Knew what I was getting into But I couldn't let out what I had to keep in I'm ashamed of myself And unspeakable sins that I committed and..."

ok he hates himself sooo much and soo many things are happening that he cant control! but doesnt wanna tell anybody. so he turns to liquor b.c hes depressed and feels like liquor is the only thing that will take the pain away.

he also goes on to say:

" It just hurts to be a man "

meaning hes tooo ashamed of himself to much b.c of the drinking. like hes nothing.

"If I wake up now I can be pure again"

meaning when he wakes up from the night before and the aolochol is gone out of his system. so hes pure.

and last:

"Look at me now I'm on the tracks with my back Towards the last train leaving town"

to me hes on the train tracks, drunk and upset. like hes on the tracks and wants out!

idk thats my take on it and you can think differently and ik it was too hard to understand probably but i tried.

He's feeling rather shittyto say the least.like he's screwed up his whole life. He's drinking. He just wants to cut himself off from everyone he knows so he can have a new begining. When he says ,"Look at me now I'm on the tracks with my back Towards the last train leaving town" He's talking about killing himself. Maybe The last train as he doesn't want to fuck things up for anyone else and they'll be less people on it (late night or w/e)?

It's about how he hates everything, and lived his life to fast. He knows it has been his own choise and won't blame anyone else. He know he has made mistakes but he will get trough it and he wants to start a new life, knowing thinking about the things he failed at won't help him.

Look at me now I'm on the tracks With my back towards the last train leaving town

I think this means he wanted to leave, but decides he will stay. The last train leaving town means this was his only change to leave.

hmm, hes fed up with his life and with his alcahol problem, he keeps thinking back and forth about how things are so bad and then how things can posibly be fixed, at the end he kills himself. great song

he turns his back to the train while he's on the tracks and it runs him over...duh!

okay about the line "Look at me now I'm on the tracks with my back Towards the last train leaving town (x4)" i think this means look how far i have come with this and that I am ending it now hes turning his back towards something that could be the death of him

overall i think this is a really powerful song that i fell in love with when i saw them play it live....it was amazing you could just feel every word and its meaning shaking your whole body and it was amazing....such a good band

IT JUST HURTS TO BE A MAN.

You've really got to pity the person behind these lyrics at this time, it seems so gut-wrenchingly difficult.

seriously
