Kiss Yourself Goodbye

I am a bit confused by this song, but it seems to me as if this certain guy likes a girl and he idealizes her and loves her, but she lives in her own little world where everything seems dark and bleak.

One question:

WHY HASN'T ANYONE (besides lalunacreciente above) COMMENTED ON THIS BRILLIANT SONG?!!?

I love the intro. I agree with you, i reckon it's about this particluar guy who loves this girl, but their is some twist to the relationship. i can't figure out what it is exactly though :S

okay, down to business.... I think this song is about a guy (ex boyfriend maybe) who is getting tired of consoling a girl who tries to (or threatens to) attempt suicide because of a boyfriend/lover/etc.... here are my reasons why:

"your colors running down"- Mascara running down from crying eyes perhaps...

"It's the one you love"- the lover/boyfriend causing the suicidal thoughts

"this copulated kiss, the last that you deserve"- yeah, making her feel better through sexual gratification and wanting to end it.

"I've done wrong, I've been gone"- guy feels guilty for not being around.

"If it was up to me, you'd cry tonight"- an alternitive to suicide maybe?

"When it's up to you, kiss yourself goodbye"-meaning she's threatening to commit suicide, and it also sounds like some comtempt on the guys part, saying he won't let her use him to make her feel better anymore.

"Push up Daisies"- a metaphor for dying (I'll explain for anyone who may not know this expression: When you die they put you in the ground and you become basically fertilizer, making plants like daisies grow...)

"A thousand maybes, a thousand left I'm done"- all the girls excuses and threats, the "I'm done" reiterating his feelings of being used.

"A white glow. just for tasting" maybe this is a youthanism for using coccain or another white colored drug... maybe how she's killing herself? i'm not sure though as i have never done drugs.. what do you guys think?

"a life a-wasting"- yeah pretty self explanitory....

anyways, this is a good song.... the intro is indeed awesome... that's just my two cents, anyone got any other ideas?

Intriguing lyrics! When I first listened to the song, I felt it was about controlling someone in a relationship. One partner is very domineering, read: sadistic. "You would cry tonight / So kiss yourself goodbye. She's the submissive one, she's totally in his posession. She is "easy" because she is vulnerable. He wears down her resistance: "Drink down and your candles burn / Away, away." He would taunt/torture her by being distant emotionally and sexually: Blank face little girl / Your colors running down / It’s the one you love / Cry out my world, this copulated kiss / It’s the last that you deserve" and "Take you, take me / I can’t go with you now / Don’t you wish I’d try / Left just a trace, it's growing colder still / So kiss yourself goodbye" when he succeeds in making her dependent on him. White is the colour of purity. When the girl makes a game of picking off the petals, he only wants to hear a clear yes or no, not maybe. Therefore he only accepts complete submission. Let this be a warning: if you end up with this guy, you will literally "kiss yourself goodbye."

i thought that (if we're going with the suicide idea, which i think seems to make perfect sense) that the line A white glow, just for tasting was like when you see a white light when you die supposedly and because shes threatening to kill herself but not actually doing it, its ilke she wants a taster of death but not the actual thing?maybe?

also on the suicide idea..."blank face little girl" could refer to being dead maybe??? also "drink down and your candles burn away" and "one drink and your candles burn away" could also be how shes killing herself and also the whole "kiss yourself goodbye" idea could mean that he's going to end it so she should kiss herself goodbye if she really is suicidal... and the whole "take you take me/ i cant go with you now" meaning he won't die with her...the whole suicide thing really makes a lot of sense

again I am so sorry that I never got to be a all america reject fan from the start when they came out. There song are so original. I never heard, so many songs that have number 1 different meanings and every song has very diffrent sounds. This song is so cool. I love how they come in and explan love lost and so forth. Just a cool band all the way..... I can't wait til they countinue to grow...
