F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. Lyrics

Slow down this is slippin' through my mind,
this conversation has run out of time.
Honey I know you know what I mean,
and that's the one thing that you soon will find.
I know that you really wanna go,
my mind is runnin' outta gas just relax,
and recap, and relapse.
Tonight, my body's jumpin' and I,
go through the motions and I'm leaving on this journey,
maybe someday I'll come running home to you.

I don't wanna see the day, my words cannot make it safe.
(Come running home! Come running home!)
Her heart in my hands, it's too bad, no regrets...
I don't wanna see the day, her tears are falling on my grave.
(Come running home! Come running home!)
This is my one chance, to take back, no regrets...

Let's go! I just wanna let you know,
this situation leaves me outta breath.
We'll drive till the love that's in your eyes,
drops to the ground, unravels like a thread...
I know that you really wanna go,
I only think about her, must get to her, cannot lose her.
You know that I will not let this die,
life support systems and my mind on
rewind and rewind and rewind...

Picture this basic scenario: Dude has 2 love interests, #1 we'll label "the steady" and #2 we'll label "the new hot thing that won't last but I do like you, really I do".

Suppose dude and #1 are on the rocks, he's in the doghouse, she's treating him like crap, whatever. He doesn't necessarily cheat on her but they separate or don't talk for a time and he meets/reconnects/gets to know #2.

Uh-oh! Saw #1 at some bar! She says she's sorry she was cruel or whatever and (Emeril: Bam!) they're a thing again. Uh-oh! What's gonna happen with #2? Inevitably they drift apart even if they got hot and heavy, however temporarily.

What I get out of this song is that its written to #2, hence "I only think about her, must get to her, cannot lose her.", and of course the refrain of "no regrets" etc. Maybe the song (absolutely incredible song btw) is just holding a "looking-glass" up in front of me but I get that out of it every time I listen to it.

I think the title of the song (fuck condoms, premarital sex is the shit, get 'er pregnant get 'er pregnant get 'er pregnant) is a clever allusion to the meaning of the song. Mainly, I think it's about a teen couple getting pregnant, and an abortion that she wants and he doesn't, a la Brick by Ben Folds Five.

I know that the messages in the song don't seem consistent - at first he knows he can't change her mind so he's determined to leave, and then he's begging her to run away with him - but that is because the first verse is about the impact of the abortion on their relationship, while the second verse is him trying to change her mind, therefore stopping the abortion and saving the child. My analysis:

Slow down this is slippin' through my mind, this conversation has run out of time.

Her mind is made up on the matter. He realizes he can't stop her, but he also can't accept it.

Honey I know you know what I mean, and that's the one thing that you soon will find.

He thinks she is going to regret it afterwards, and thinks a part of her knows she will too.

I know that you really wanna go, my mind is runnin' outta gas just relax, and recap, and relapse.

He knows that she's not ready to be a parent, and sympathizes with her reasons for wanting an abortion, but he can't cope with her decision.

Tonight, my body's jumpin' and I, go through the motions and I'm leaving on this journey, maybe someday I'll come running home to you.

He's pretending like everything is fine tonight because he doesn't want to add insult to injury, but they both know that they're over. Maybe someday, he'll forgive her, but all he wants to do right now is get away from her.

I don't wanna see the day, my words cannot make it safe. (Come running home! Come running home!) Her heart in my hands, it's too bad, no regrets... I don't wanna see the day, her tears are falling on my grave. (Come running home! Come running home!) This is my one chance, to take back, no regrets...

Should be obvious. "Her tears are falling on my grave" symbolizes that she's killing him with her decision, and she knows it, but she thinks she has no other choice. He pleads with her to reconsider ("come running home"), because this moment is the only chance he has to convince her not to abort their child. The second verse is his plea:

Let's go! I just wanna let you know, this situation leaves me outta breath. We'll drive till the love that's in your eyes, drops to the ground, unravels like a thread...

All this talking is getting them nowhere. They should just run away together and start anew with their child. In the back of his mind, though, he knows that even if they did, she'd grow resentful and love neither him nor the child.

I know that you really wanna go, I only think about her, must get to her, cannot lose her.

"Her" is the child, not the girlfriend.

You know that I will not let this die, life support systems and my mind on rewind and rewind and rewind...

Despite his pleas, in the end she decides to get the abortion against his wishes. He is forever tormented by her decision, reliving the experience over and over in his head, wondering if there was anything he could have said or done differently to change things.

Just my interpretation. I think it's pretty sound and has some merit. Even if it's not what the artists themselves had in mind - though I have good reason to think that it was - it's certainly a more interesting interpretation than "boy and girl in love, boy is dying." And it explains the ridiculous title too.

"Slow down this is slippin' through my mind, This conversation has run out of time."

basically. we're moving to fast to even figure out if we even like eachother. i refer to the "conversation" as having sex with her

"Honey I know you know what I mean, And that's the one thing that you soon will find."

they're trying to figure out why that just happened what the outcome will be if it's just more than sex.

"Tonight, my bodies jumpin' and I, Go through the motions and I'm leaving on this journey, Maybe someday I'll come running home to you."

he's trying to process what just happend how the sex makes him feel and if this is what's best for them. maybe someday he'll start something with her if it was ment to be.

"Her heart in my hands, it's too bad, no regrets"

her feelings are stronger than what he feels. what they just did caused her to feel as if she were in love and he has to decide what to do. he doesnt want to be with her. no regrets its to bad that shes gunna get hurt and he's not.

"COME RUNNING HOME!" its like he can't say sorry because he already broke her heart. and he feels guilty and doesnt know what to do.

I think the song is about the narrator having to leave his girlfriend/wife.

(Slow down this is slippin' through my mind, this conversation has run out of time.) He tells her he's leaving.

(I know that you really wanna go, my mind is runnin' outta gas just relax, and recap, and relapse.) They are fighting about him leaving and he just wants her to calm down, relax, and think about it.

(Tonight, my body's jumpin' and I, go through the motions and I'm leaving on this journey, maybe someday I'll come running home to you.) Hes excited/worried and he promises that he'll come back for her.

(I don't wanna see the day, my words cannot make it safe.) Hes trying to comfort her because she still doesnt want him to leave.

(Come running home! Come running home!) Shes telling him to come home alive, obviously.

(I don't wanna see the day, her tears are falling on my grave.) he doesnt want her to have to deal with his death.

(This is my one chance, to take back, no regrets...) he wants to take back the feelings he has for her so she doesnt have to deal with his death but he doesnt regret loving her and he wont regret leaving her because he knows its best for her.

To sum it up i think the song is a story about the narrator going to war but his girlfriend/wife is trying to stop him. He thinks that hes not going to come back alive and she thinks it too but he still comforts her so that she wont worry but he also knows that if he dies that it will break her heart so he wants to take the feelings he has for her back cause he thinks its better to hurt her that way rather than have her to deal with his death. he doesnt regret loving her or leaving her and he wont let his love for her die but hes leaving her because its best for her but he still wants the war to end so he run home to her and get her back which would explain the urgency of the song.

this song was written before the band became The Fall Of Troy but any true TFOT fan can tell you they were originally The 30 Years War and that would explain why the song is about war.

Song Meaning

this is an amazing song… great lyrics. musically (and, somewhat, thematically), it sounds like a cross between Achilles’ Last Stand, by Led Zeppelin, and Wire, by U2. this song could definitely be about war…it feels very desperate, very apocalyptic. awesome :)

Ok. this is how i see it.

a girl is crazy about this guy and wants to start a relationship with him. he wasnt realy wanting a relationship but decided to try it anyway. he wasnt realy crazy about this girl at first. but after awhile he becomes attached to this girl and falls in love with her, then suddenly she is the most important thing in his life. so then they have a great time togethor for a little while. And they both love eachother and her heart is in his hands. Then she starts to loose intrest in him slowly. then she eventually breaks up with him. so now he is left allone wanting this girl back and theres nothing he can do. So, he was happy untill this girl came along then she made him go grazy for her, and now she left him with his heart broken.

i think this is how it goes and i realy like this song because it describes what happened to me in my last relationship (if my interpretation is correct)

i would have to say that f.c.p.s.i.t.s.g.e.p.g.e.p.g.e.p. and f.c.p.r.e.m.i.x. are equally amazing. just depends on what mood youre in at the time of listening.

This version carries with it an urgency that I think the original lacks. That being said, both are quite good, and the story is quite sad. This reminds me of Brick by Ben Folds, but instead of sadness, rage is prime here. Just my thoughts. noah, duke of west chester

It seems that this song is telling about someone who is in love with someone else, but is injured or has fallen ill somehow. He then spends his last moments with her and passes away.
