The Autumn Effect Lyrics
Casting a cool breeze supplied by the autumn question where it went wrong
climbing Jacob's ladder
climbing Jacob's ladder
kindly could you reevaluate
autumn's animated growth
Autumn indicates the death of beauty as
we know Autumn indicates the death of
beauty as we know
keep on fighting one died from burning out his throat
Autumn swiftly stold the breath of
body mind and soul
Try and come to willingly embrace
Karma's kiss of withering decay
death feeds hell breeds
subside in the autumn
Autumn indicates the death of beauty as
we know Autumn indicates the death of
beauty as we know
keep on fighting one died from burning out his throat
Autumn swiftly stold the breath of
body mind and
silent beauty no one cares
silent ending no one is there
climbing Jacob's ladder
climbing Jacob's ladder
kindly could you reevaluate
autumn's animated growth
we know Autumn indicates the death of
beauty as we know
keep on fighting one died from burning out his throat
Autumn swiftly stold the breath of
body mind and soul
Karma's kiss of withering decay
death feeds hell breeds
subside in the autumn
we know Autumn indicates the death of
beauty as we know
keep on fighting one died from burning out his throat
Autumn swiftly stold the breath of
body mind and
silent ending no one is there

Great song, probably the best on the cd...i love the chorus' heavy riffs, so good
I see this song as sort of the thread that sums up the theme of the album, of course, hence the song title.
As I have a tendency to interpret a lot of lyrics to be of social commentary, I see this a fairly simple, in a way almost classic, metaphor for humanity. The autumn representing a decay, loss of innocence, loss of beauty, and ultimately a loss of humanity. The rise and fall of empires and societies, as an inevitable cycle of events. The autumn effect is basically the inevitable point of decay everything will at on point reach. Seasons are a very accurate representation of worldly things, a birth, a rise, and fall, and an end.
The cool breeze is an omen, foreshadowing. We cannot reason how we've lost our way, as it's typical of us to think of ourselves and our intentions as all but impure. Yet, the narration conveys a sense acceptance, rather than denial "willingly embracing Karma's kiss of decay". As the breeding and manifestation of our evil is shrouded and difficult to see, it subsides in the autumn-like landscape of our current state, it has "stolen the breath of our body, mind and soul". We cannot fight or reason with words, the impending and seemingly imminent outcome.
I have mixed feelings about this song. Worst of all, I can't make sense of any of the lyrics. Maybe a more intelligent person could chime in and decipher this thing for us.
I have no idea entirely what this song means, but i know when he mentions "jacbo's ladder" he is more than like referring to the bible.
Well, I guess i'm the only one who knows what this song is about here. The singer once had a dream that he was in a white area and everywhere he looked scenery appeared. it was all autumn.("kindly could you reevaluate autumns animated growth") He was with his mom, girlfriend and his best friend. They followed a path and and watched leaves fall. When his friend watched, the leaf shot in his throat. then his whole body burnt.("keep on fighting one from burning out his throat") they kept on going. when they got to the end of the path there were four pods to get out of the place and one was broken.(because his friend died).
"Jacobs ladder" indicates that it is a dream because in the Bible Jacob climbs attempts to climb a ladder to heaven in his dream.

That's a crazy dream.
Love the music of this song... plus it's 9 minutes long! Really, really good music IMHO.
Am I the only person who thinks this guy kinda sounds like Maynard James Keenan from TOOL/A Perfect Circle?
No, you aren't. But personally I'd say the differences between the two outweigh the similarities.
autumn often represents a changing of life, away from vitality (summer) towards death (winter). Autumn is almost the calm between the two storms within life. the metaphor is used a great deal in poetry.
the song is about someone fighting the natural course of one's life (towards death).
inquity already talked about the Jacob's ladder part.
