i think this song talks about how fun life used to be when you're a kid, but being an adult brings lots of work and hard times and now they just wanna go back to the fun times. "they never told me this would end, that the leaves would fall again." i like that line the most

i agree with you all, it's about growing up and missing the childhood you left behind.

Its not about the war in Iraq. Its about childhood and the good times before all the responsibilities of growing up come and fall on you.

To me this song is about what's happening in the world now. 'Do you still remember back when days....' - Do you still remeber when you were back at school? Your world was sheltered, you had nothing to worry about because the next day you would do the same as the last. 'There was the day when this world went to war and...' The world has waded unthinkingly into war, for example the 'War on Terror' and the fellow singing the song has gone along. What's the diference betwee wasting Nazis in 'Saving Private Ryan' and fighting insurgents in Afghanistan, no real difference between real life and the movies. Now after having experienced it the protagonist reaises the difference between fact and fiction, he is over it and has had a gut-full, and whished to be taken back to when he was not afraid, safe in his sheltered world. 'Running blind into the light...' Running blindly into the light of a better world through the war mentioned earlier, maybe we should have thought about it, but too late, he's fighting and it's wasting him away.

some of the lyrics are wrong.....these are correct.

I think this song is trying to say how: remember the way times were, how it was better then, how we felt it wouldn't end and we were so caught up in that one moment that it seemed everlasting. The most beautiful part is when he says 'they never told me this would end, or that the leaves would fall again'. Kind of saying how there was no warning from anyone that things would change or ultimately 'end'. There was no pattern or cause and effect. I think the leaves falling again symbolises the loss of summer, evidence showing that that time has gone.

it kinda seems to me that he is talking about growing up and leaving the bliss and wonderfullness of childhood and becomeing a man/woman. and when your older you want to go back and have more fun and have a better childhood thats my views anyway

one more thing, if you look in the book for the cd, it says "cause this time between has was wasted me away", just thought id let everyone know
