Through The Iris Lyrics

Cherish
Two circular views of blue with a gray shade
So captivating
More than you know

False perceptions
That brought forth these questions of
Truth, love and hope
Now that you're injuring
I carry you with me just
Please hold on

Disappear and dissolve
A weakening wall
Will one day fall
It's wise to sever our loss
I redefine pulse
Through the iris

Love's not all lost
But it's nailed to my cross
And crucified all that I've held on
To be awaiting
Anticipating a touch such as yours

False affection
A spawn of neglecting
A love, lust, hoax
Please understand me
That now where you're standing
Is closer then I'd hoped

Disappear and dissolve
A weakening wall
Will one day fall
It's wise to sever our loss
I redefine pulse
Through the iris

Your Iris
Your Iris

Disappear and dissolve
A weakening wall
Will one day fall
It's wise to sever our loss
I redefine pulse
Through the iris

Disappear and dissolve
A weakening wall
Will one day fall
It's wise to sever our loss
I redefine pulse
A new iris

i think its about someone being hesitant to enter a relationship and afraid to love this person but slowly is starting to trust them.

Maybe I am feeling some odd mood again but it sounds again like temptation. Is this guy married? Is he a munk? is there someone he wants that he cant have? IS tehre a past substance abuse problem? Why cant I find any info about these guys? :)

Actually i just figured out what the meaning is; one person is a christian the other is an atheist, and they challenge each others beliefs. "Love's not all lost But it's nailed to my cross And crucified all that I've held on." and also "Truth, love and hope" (basic christian ideas). Then the atheist thinks it's all "A love, lust, hoax." and the atheist seems to be winning the argument. I know your wondering what redefine pulse has to do with this, but pulse has a second meaning which is an underlying opinion. And one more thing the lyrics are through your iris not the iris.

I associate this song with religion. Like breaking down the wall so everyone can believe whatever they want to, but also about two lovers who were always separated by religion, and now that the wall between them has been broken, they will redefine the meaning of love and life and create a new world. That's just what I think of when I hear this song.

Great song. Your meaning is good enough for me because I sure as hell couldn't make anything out of this. 80% of their song lyrics are too cryptic for me.

how is this band so good? they take my least favorite parts about tool (favorite band ever) and a perfect circle (almost as good, but not quite hehe), musically and vocally, and add their own flavor, and it comes out the way it does. it's great and i love it.

I think it means that there's is so much strain in realtionships and so many disagreements that he's trying see it from a different perspective. He's trying to convince her that it's love and not lust. Maybe it started out as lust because of the words, " please understand me that now where your standing is closer than I'd hoped." now it's turned into love. Or maybe he's trying to leave her and see how his life would be without her......man I don't know, that's all I got......It's a great song though

Love's not all lost But it's nailed to my cross

-these lines are so powerful. we all i believe, have a cross we are forced to bear. to carry upon our backs each day. and even if loves not there- its lost, gone for the time being if we've ever loved or are loving its nailed to our cross we still have to carry it whether its lost or not.
