Half Life Lyrics

Styling your shroud
Infecting the crowd
Steady letting the fruit of her thrill
Fool you so well

Fictitious styles of living
We've expected to work
But this is all your giving
Half of what your worth
Pigeon hold in battles
Overtones of snow in her clutch
Falling through lines
One more breath destroys the best of you
The death of you

Styling your shroud
Infecting the crowd
Steady letting the fruit of her thrill
Fool you so well

A precious gift embedded deep within your skin
But parasitic pleasures are closer than kin
Please expose your shadows
Such concerns are products of love
Falling in lies
One more fraud destroys our trust in you
Our love for you

Styling your shroud
Infecting the crowd
Steady letting the fruit of her thrill
Fool you so well

As you kiss the abstract
And pray it's everything you'd hoped for
The smell of her, the thrill of her
The fruit of her, the use of her
Is killing everything that you've worked for

The smell of her, the thrill of her
The fruit of her, the use of her
Is killing everything that you've worked for

Styling your shroud
Infecting the crowd
Steady letting the fruit of her thrill
Fool you so well

Smell of her
Thrill of her
Fruit of her
Use of her (x3)

The smell of her
Thrill of her
Fruit of her
Lucifer

"Half Life"

The time required for the activity of a substance taken into the body to lose one half its initial effectiveness. (This I believe is important in deciphering what the song is exactly about, I believe it is about a drug....Specifically cocaine.)

"Styling your shroud Infecting the crowd Steady letting the fruit of her thrill Fool you so well"

I think styling your shroud means concealing your internal pain by use of a drug, and possibly infecting the crowd means you're having an impact on those around you and in a negative way. "Her" I believe is the drug and not an actual person, and gradually you let in the effects of this drug but it's fooling you because it won;t last for long and will probably end up doing more harm to you eventually.

"Fictitious styles of living We've expected to work But this is all your giving Half of what your worth Pigeon hold in battles Overtones of snow in her clutch Falling through lines One more breath destroys the best of you The death of you"

You're not living in reality when on this drug, and are just fooling yourself in the process and doing it quite easily because of the need for the drug. And possibly the ending of this verse is describing an overdose.

"A precious gift embedded deep within your skin But parasitic pleasures are closer than kin Please expose your shadows Such concerns are products of love Falling in lies One more fraud destroys our trust in you Our love for you"

This describes the pleasure of the drug being more important to you than any people ever could be, including family. And if somebody were to address your habit, they would be doing it in an effort to help you. But you lie about your habit, and you're no longer trustworthy or an honest person as the drug has taken over you and you love the drug more than loved ones so they in return do not love you anymore.

"As you kiss the abstract And pray it's everything you'd hoped for The smell of her, the thrill of her The fruit of her, the use of her Is killing everything that you've worked for"

Distancing yourself further from reality, throwing your life away. it's also interesting that the very origin of the word "Half-Life" in 1864, meant unsatisfactory way of living.

Half Life if a math term used to calculate the decay of say a drug in your system. It will have a specific half life of so many hours and will eventually disapear after its broken down with each half time. (becomes less and less when each half life time is reached)

I suck at describing math without using formulas. Anyways if you look at it from the title stand point. Hes involved withs omething, maybe a girl, maybe temptation (Its sounds to me alot of the songs are about sexual temptation) But anyways, as long as this is going on he is becoming less and less of what he was before, its eating him up, eventually there will be no more of what was making him feel good, or will be changed forever.

So I have no idea what this song is about an example of a half life easy problem is

you are giev 250mg of morphine which has a half life of 6 hours. How much will be left in your system after 24 hrs.

This song is most definitly about the temptation of women on men. More importantly its the Devil playing the part of the women, like in Terry Brook Angel Fall East, A demon is keeping a knight of God captive by seducing him in female form. The Half-Life referring to the fact he was living half of his life (his human side not his divine side) which also can be switched around the other form of Half Life (as mentioned by jojojennjo).
'A precious gift embedded deep within your skin' That whole paragraph while still reference to the Terry Brooks book, is that the side of God is starting to distrust knight, who is being seduced, and that his love for this demon in guise of a women (also explains 'Styling your shroud' paragraph if you apply it as her thoughts), and that the gift embedded was God's gift of power, whether it physical or metnal is up to Him. Also if you are in a relationship with someone like the Devil, he obviously won't tell you all his secrets thus explaining the 'Please expose your shadows' part. Also the paragraph containing 'As you kiss the abstract', referring to kissing the Devil while in fact, also destroying everything he worked for by his false love for the Devil's guise The rest of the song is self explainatory to my theory so long as you understand it. Also if you love to read, I suggest your should read the trilogy of the Knight of the Word by Terry Brooks.

Teh person the song is talking about is Gordon Freeman, the narrator is the G-Man. (Because we all know Gordon Freeman can't talk) G-Man is talking about Gordon's crazy antics and various mischeif he has made. It is also about teh Combine. "Infecting the crowd" is referencing teh Combine's taking over of teh Earth and making people into robots. "A precious gift embedded deep within your skin." That also talks about teh Combine taking over, and implanting teh circuitry into the people's bodies.

Wow... you're a loser. It's "the" and also, I like how once you actually slipped up and said "the." Did you go through changing every "the" to "teh"? LOSER.

Above poster.....wow....just wow.

It's pronounced "The"

As for the song, I take this song as a person who's abandoned friends for a girl. His own lust for her has caused him to abandon his friends, yet his friends know she isn't right for him. That's how I take it.

I really don't know how you can relate this to the game, considering the word "her" is in just about every line....

digitalimpulse I think you hit it on the nose. I couldn't have put it better myself. It's got to be about a guy who becomes pussy whipped, and he lets his friendships, job, and everything else go to shit for her.
