this song is indeed quite amazing. the background effects and such during the "what is this shit you keep selling me boy" part and whatnot is great.

anywho...my take? well, since the whole willing well series (and the whole cd for that matter) is sung from the prospective of the writer, i think he's trying to tell claudio to quit bitching about newo (what is this shit you keep sending me boy? i'm not going to hold your hand anymore) while at the same time saying he's going to tell the story of newo's disception (and newo? you'll burn in hell while they're digging you out). and towards the end the writer is laying it out for claudio, letting him know that he has to decide if he'll still be dedicated to newo even after all she's done, and even when the war with the mage is going to burn the world (with the last breath of air/as the earth comes trembling down/would you give her this last night/the love of your life?).

non story line interpretation? claudio(as in the singer, not the character)'s friends all telling him that bitching about nikki was getting old...and he needs to decide whether or not he wants to stay dedicated to her. while they sympathize, saying nikki (newo for the uninitiated) is a bitch who should burn in hell, claudio needs to stop spreading stories of her whoredom...they're growing old.

damn... im goin to hav to xplain this agian... this whole cd... is claudio the writer and the character fighting.... claudio sanchez was going to quit the band cause his "girl friend" wanted him to... so he could be with her more or what ever... anyway... claudio sanchez was forever having to fight with himself (or the claudio character as known in the cd) about staying in the band for a little longer to finish the story... sanchez doesnt want to... but the character wont giv it up... the character (in a few songs) is asking him what his fate was... he wants to know what happens... but... the writer doesnt want to finish it... so i still hav no idea if this cd is for sanchez to show us how much crap he went through to continue the story... or is givin us hints that he ISNT continuing... so this is where im in a baot woth no baddles... im just sittin here waiting to hear some good news...

actually kyleandcambria is right, kinda anyway, from what claudio has said and what ppl on co&ca forums have said basically sanchez's girlfriend nikki owen told him to choose her or the band and therefore the story. So he chose the band. This album is about the relationship of the writer with the characters in the story, and how Sanchez's real life relationships have affected the character's relationships

Claudio Sanchez: “This is more from the Writer’s perspective: He’s become isolated from the world, and he finds a way out, which is to destroy the story.”

As both worlds are bleeding into each other, the album takes a turn to show the perspective from both sides. The events take place in a certain sequence, but the listener/reader is also thrown back and forth between plot and disillusion to heighten the sense of disorientation that Writer feels. The Willing Well songs are all involved in the section of the graphic novel where Writer is on his way into the story, and Claudio is on his way to House Atlantic to fight with Ryan for the first time since “A Favor House Atlantic”.
