I was at the Central Park show and the guitar solo at the end was just ridiculously amazing...i can see how this could easily be the best song on the album...of course i DID say that about welcome home...but we'll see
All of Coheed's stories/albums/characters connect. That's what makes them so fucking badass. Sirius Amory (The Afterman) puts the Keywork back together after The Writer and Claudio Kilgannon (The Character) plan to destroy it. Sirius Amory, from The Afterman albums (2013), is a scientist who travels to the Keywork after years of research. There he meets souls (Key Entity Extractions) that force them to relive their lives. That's Ascension. Descension is Sirius returning from the Keywork. Meri, his wife, tells him a shocking secret and he loses control of a car, smashing into a truck and killing Meri. Sirius then plans to return to the Keywork and bring Meri home, even if it kills him.
It's some emotional and crazy shit. Look it up.

Well, I think if you really look at everything as a whole, and forgive me for not citing references as I'm at work and doing this rather quickly, but this song seems to be the killing of Ambellina as to break off Claudio from any hope of love, as it's been stated by Claudio that Ambellina and Newo represent the good and bad sides of Erica respecitvely. This is what allows him to become the Crowing and fulfill his destiny to destroy the Keywork to hopefully bring God back to the Universe as it was told. God left when Sirius Amory put the Keywork in place, or sometime thereabouts. He told the Prise, guardians of the Keywork, to which Ambellina once belonged before having her WINGS REMOVED, that if they interfere with his return there will be consequences. Hence, Claudio or The Writer kills Ambellina.
As for the hoedown at the end, I have a theory on this, take it or leave it. On The Prize Fighter Inferno (Claudio's solo project) album "My Brother's Blood Machine," the story is supposed to be set on Earth a long time before any of the events of the MAIN CoCa storyline and involves Jesse, hence the name of the project. Well, Claudio has described the story as involving a backwoods Chainsaw Massacre type family involved heavily. So, I get to my theory about the hoedown track. Picture, after dying earlier on the cd, Jesse waking up to a big festival in, oh, I don't know, Margeretville (from the PFI song "The Margeretville Town Dance," and a dog barking at the new stranger(Jesse) appearingly seemingly from nowhere. This would create a neat little transition and connection between CoCa and PFI that fits too well for me not to think it's true. Like I said, just a theory, but I like it.
Minor thing, but on the bootleg he says "face in the door." it might be different on the album, so disregard this if it is.

nah it's just that the story isn't realeased in chronological order. there are like 2 more albums at least coming out, as they skipped part 2,3 and 4 of the story and skipped to the last chapter in 2 parts for the last 2 albums.

i agree with kyleandcambria, it kinda sounds like, from the lyrics, that this is the end of the story...but there's two things that make me think otherwise...one is that i keep hearing that there will be a Volume II of this cd, and THAT will be the end of the story...and also the little slide guitar thing thats at the very end of this track, which is really upbeat and kinda sounds like its leading into something more...and there's the sound of a dog barking at the very very end, which im guessing is Apollo...but im not making sense of this album as a whole just yet, i hope the graphic novel gets here soon!
