Being Boiled Lyrics

OK, ready. Let's do it

Listen to the voice of Buddha
Saying stop your sericulture
Little people like your offspring
Boiled alive for some god's stocking
Buddha's watching, Buddha's waiting

Just because the kid's an orphan
Is no excuse for thoughtless slaying
Children don't forget this torture
Just because you call her mother
Doesn't mean that she's your better

Once more with the voice of Buddha
He'll say carry on your slaughter
Who cares for the little children
You may slice with no conviction
Blind revenge on a blameless victim

Erm...no, it's about the inherent cruely of sericulture, the raising of silk moth larvae for the production of silk.

Once the cocoons are spun by the larvae, they are boiled, killing the larvae inside in order to protect the integrety of the fibres of the cocoon which are then spun into threads and woven into fabric.

Buddhists believe that all living beings have been re-born countless times in every form of living being there is, so the silk moths that you are boiling alive for the production of luxury products are our children from previous lives.

So, in the first verse Buddha says, stop sericulture because it's mindless cruelty that produces luxury from the torture and killing of animals,

The second verse says that, in killing silk moths in this way, you are in effect boiling your own children to death.

In the third verse, Buddha says that you are free to act as you please, and that, if you continue it is because you have no conscience

@xrty thank god someone said it!

The inherent hypocricy of authority using Buddhism as an example.

Buddhism, practiced properly is anti authoritarian.

It's teachings state that you can and may do as you wish, but states that you can not really have free will unless you fully understand the consequences of your actions.

Of course, if you listen to that old fraud, the Dalai Lama, you'll get a different message

Probably the only pop song about the plight of the silkworm. Brilliant.

The last verse is bleak, and seems to suggest that in fact there is no Buddha (and by inference, God) because the suffering continues. If the perpetrators don't stop, they aren't stopped either. After all, Buddha is very passive in this, watching and waiting.

In light of the Great Awakening and what I\'ve learnt, I see meaning in this now that I wouldn\'t have seen before ie what happens to silkworms can also be done to human children. For adrenochrome.
