I have seen
Too many sad eyes look at me
Eyes that set me free
All the places that I've been
Thank you for
The letters that you thought you wrote
And thank you for
The times you chose to stand out in the rain
And wait, for me
For me
Your words
Your words help me to see
A little honesty
In a world that doesn't share
And your eyes
Tell the story of your pain
Temerity of your disdain
In a world that doesn't care
So thank you for
The letters that you thought you wrote
And thank you for
The times you chose to stand out in the rain
And wait
You, you understand my pain
From this I gather strength
In that we are the same
So thank you for
The letters that you thought you wrote
And thank you for
The times you chose to stand out in the rain
And wait
The life I live will never be the same
Without you here
you here(x2)
Without you
Too many sad eyes look at me
Eyes that set me free
All the places that I've been
The letters that you thought you wrote
And thank you for
The times you chose to stand out in the rain
And wait, for me
For me
Your words help me to see
A little honesty
In a world that doesn't share
And your eyes
Tell the story of your pain
Temerity of your disdain
In a world that doesn't care
The letters that you thought you wrote
And thank you for
The times you chose to stand out in the rain
And wait
From this I gather strength
In that we are the same
The letters that you thought you wrote
And thank you for
The times you chose to stand out in the rain
And wait
Without you here
you here(x2)
Without you

I think that Aaron wrote this, to us, his true fans, to let us know that he appreciates everything we do...The letters we write, the honesty, and the strength we have, and from that, it makes it just a touch easier for him, because he knows "we're all the same.", as he says. No, thank you Aaron, for everything you've done for us, for all you've given us. We love you.
I recently saw Staind live and before they played 'Reply', Aaron told the crowd that it was written because many people write to him and he's not able to write back to most of them. He wrote this song to acknowledge those fans and to know that he appreciates the letters they send him and the dedication they show.
Definitely about the fans. Talking about them waiting out in the rain for the concerts and such and waiting for him. Great song.
Wow, a song competely dedicated to us! Awesome way to thank the fans, Aaron! The ominous mood of this song adds to the honest feeling in his voice. Masterpiece.
No problem, man.
Amazing. This song made me cry. I wish I could thank Aaron in such a beautiful way.
I love this song. Makes me cry almost every time I hear it.. of course most Staind songs make me cry every time I hear them :| Two small corrections to the posted lyrics, however..
Your words Your words help me to see A little honesty In a world that doesn't share And your eyes Tell the story of your pain SEVERITY of your disdain In a world that doesn't care
and in the chorus..
So thank you for The letters that you thought you wrote in vain and for The times you chose to stand out in the rain And wait
I rate Aaron should have used 'sodality' or 'temerity' instead of 'severity'. They have more impact.
Awesome song though. One of his best.
No problem.
I think this is a song that Aaron wrote for his wife and daughters. He's thanking them for always being there no matter how difficult he's made it for them.
Clearly about and to Staind fans (yeah, to us :) ). It's sooo beautiful and the way he sings sends shivers down my spine.
