Seize The Day Lyrics

On and on this is my way
I've made up mind
But I will find what I search for
Soon I will reach the western shore
Far behind in the distance
Lie the fires of doom
There's a voice deep inside me
The tower knows who you are

The road goes on and on
Tomorrow I'll be gone
The road goes on and on
Tomorrow I'll be gone

I hear him say

We'll seize the day
Too many roads we've travelled on
We'll seize the day
Home lies behind
The world lies straight ahead
We'll seize the day
Now there's one thing left to do
Destiny we hold in hand
We'll seize the day
Until the end we'll carry on
Home lies behind the world lies straight ahead
We'll seize the day
Now there's thing left to do
We'll seize the day

All along this is my way
I better move on
Pure in heart and fair-minded
For strength and truth
I'll keep on
Keep the one that has passed on
And leave the others behind
All alone and without me
I hear him say

We'll seize the day
Too many roads we've travelled on
We'll seize the day
Home lies behind
The world lies straight ahead
We'll seize the day
Now there's one thing left to do
Destiny we hold in hand
We'll seize the day
Until the end we'll carry on
Home lies behind the world lies straight ahead
We'll seize the day
Now there's thing left to do
We'll seize the day

I believe this song, like most of the other songs on this albumn, is about the drak tower series by Stephen King. The line "The tower knows who you are" seems to iply this.

Dark Tower series yep... I don't know the specifics though. This is a fabulous song!

has the hair stood up from the back of anyone else's neck when you hear, "The Tower knows who you are"? I'm not sure about the specifics of this song either, but I imagine this to be a song inspired by Roland's sober determination to find the man in black and the Dark Tower or it is from the point of view of Brown, his sidekick.

There are a lot of Dark Tower song's in Hansi's Curriculum, but I think that he came back to good and old Lord of the Rings in this one.

Seems to me like Sam and Frodo in Mordor. And the "Tower" that "knows who you are" is Tolkien's Dark Tower, Barâd-dur. (The Sauron one, the one with a big, fire-eye).

Why am I thinking Elrond from LOTR?

That maybe true but its very true that King was inspired by Tolkien alot. This song is a chant of Rolands Ka-tet. it speaks of the world behind them laying in ruins (in refrence to the fall of Gilead and the world moving on)

yeah i reckon this song is about LOTR, but it tells of Frodo's journey. he knows he has to do it, but he just doesnt want to. he knows he has one chance to achieve his goals, and the repetition of "seize the day" i take it is him making the most of every opportunity. also there are numerous references to frodo in LOTR. e.g. the "Soon I will reach the western shore" is an indication of how at the end of the journey he leaves with gandalf, bilbo and the elves to the undying lands, "the tower knows who you are" as Tavos mentioned would be sauron in his tower in morder. etc. etc. so that's what i reckon, but then again i could be completely wrong lol

It's a sorta of fusion of BOTH Steven King's Dark Tower and Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. "The Tower knows who you are" could be said about both books, because both Towers knew the protagonists. "The western shore" implies Roland of Gilead, as that's where part of his journeys led him. "The road goes on and on" is a line from one of Bilbo's songs.

A lot of songs that don't specifically mention LOTR characters or settings could be interpreted as being about the Dark Tower, too. LOTR was a very significant influence on Stephen King's epic series and parallels can certainly be drawn.

At first I thought this song was about The Dark Tower also, but the more I read the comments and then the lyrics over the more I believe it's an LOTR song.

"Soon I will reach the western shore" is an obvious clue, but it can be applied to TDT also. Same goes for "The tower knows who you are". However, "Far behind in the distance lie the fires of doom" - the Crack of Doom where the Ring was forged and destroyed. Also, "The road goes on" is very reminiscent of Bilbo's song as well as "tomorrow I'll be gone" (i.e. gone with the elves). "Now there's one thing left to do" also points to LOTR - finishing Bilbos book or maybe heading west across the sea?

Also, "Keep the one that has passed on and leave the others behind" - the breaking of the Fellowship when Frodo left with Sam? Or perhaps taking Bilbo with him across the western sea? Or maybe it references Gandalf, who in a way did "pass on" after fighting with the Balrog.

Tricky.

More support for the song being inspired by The Lord of the Rings, as opposed to The Dark Tower: The lyrics, "Home lies behind, the world lies straight ahead" are reminescent of the song that Pippin sings in The Return of the King: "Home is behind, The world ahead..." One thing I don't understand is the line, "Far behind in the distance, Lie the fires of doom". If this song is based on The Lord of the Rings, then the tone of the song would suggest that the journey has yet to come to completion. In that case, the "fires of doom",...
