This is an amazing incredible song but one that is very difficult to determine the meaning.
I'm going to tell what i picture when i hear the song i think that KJG keeps refering herself as her and she which makes me picture that the girls is mentally disturbed schitzo. Who is realizing that she is a schitzo "I join the dots" and the other personality bring shame or perhands the stimga of a mental illness brings shame upon her family or whomever she is close to. Then one personality is on a river contemplating suicide because she cannot "cross out my name" to leave one person.
I just realized that I have no idea what i'm saying i'm sort of babbling but i think at the begining of my post i sort of made sense with the whole mental illness thing so lets just stick with that.
The Song to me is about a person with mental illness. Simple as that.
I'm unsure about alot of it but I think the lines "...I join the dots and this river below me For i am the rain and i'm running down country" Could represent some form of conformity She is the rain, going into the river She is the individual (the rain) and she is joining a large group (the river). She is becoming part of a large group of people.. maybe?
I agree with Pretty.Like.Drugs - I think it's probably about mental illness. Katie Jane seems to portray a lot of the symptoms of Asperger's Syndrome or another high-functioning autism and the lyrics could represent how she feels about the illness (if she is indeed ill - It's by no means definite - She's never stated it or anything... but from the way she acts and speaks, it seems likely).
